Cartmel Racecourse

Cartmel Races provides the perfect fun-filled day out for families, friends, and couples. Combining the thrill of jump racing with a resident DJ, funfair and fabulous food selection, there’s something for everyone here.

Cartmel stages jump racing during nine fixtures a year, on the Whit Holiday weekend in May until the August bank holiday weekend. The Cumbria Crystal Cup is staged during July.

The course is a sharp and narrow left-handed oval. The main circuit measures just over one mile and one furlong with the run-in known to be the longest in the country at just over 4 furlongs.

The steeplechase course has six fences, and these include an open ditch and a water jump. The hurdles course has four obstacles.

Visitors are welcome to dine at the range of delicious food options onsite or, alternatively, to bring their own picnic, BBQ, and drinks.

An entertaining day at the races awaits at Cartmel Racecourse…
