Great Work Mine

Great Work Mine

Great Work Mine is nestled between Godolphin Hill and Tregonning Hill and first operated in 1538. Copper, lead, and tin was produced here until 1930 when the mine closed.

Today the chimney stack and engine house remain and are taken care of by the National Trust. Visitors are welcome to stroll through the site and spot evidence of where machinery once lay hidden amongst the bushes as well as take in the engine house.

Enjoy a true taste of Cornish history on a trip to Great Work Mine…
