Longstone Lighthouse
Longstone Lighthouse

The Longstone Lighthouse, also known as the Outer Farne, is located on Longstone Rock, one of the Outer Staple Islands.

Longstone Lighthouse

Sail out to this remote Lighthouse in the beautiful Farne Islands, which is famous for the daring rescue of survivors of the Forfarshire shipwreck in 1838 by the Lighthouse Keeper and his daughter, William and Grace Darling.

Visitors can see Grace’s small bedroom, where she discovered nine survivors desperately clinging to the rocks. Despite the storm, the Darlings launched the lighthouse boat and rescued the survivors, caring for them in the lighthouse for two days until it passed.

As part of the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to view seabirds and the famous Grey Seal colony on the Farne Islands, and you’ll also experience a 30-minute tour of the lighthouse’s interior.
