Argyll Cottages
Please find below a selection of self-catering holiday cottages
to rent in Argyll, Scotland.
Where the Highlands meet the Lowlands, welcome to the province
of Argyll and our Argyll holiday cottages. This sweeping region
covers the mainland and a group of Hebridean Islands. Here's a
brief guide of what to see and do.
To the north is the picture-postcard Bay of Oban and
neighbouring Isle of Mull, with its colourful capital, Tobermory.
To the east, the tranquil shores of Loch Lomond; to the south, the
idyllic Isle of Bute and equally spectacular Kintyre and Cowal
Peninsulas. Historic sites are scattered across the region -
Inveraray Castle, Iron Age Forts on Jura and evidence of Bronze Age
settlements on Islay, to mention just a few.
Join one of the many boat trips exploring the rugged coastline
and enjoy close encounters with otters, seals, puffins - even
whales and dolphins. Remember to pack your binoculars! Drive along
the unspoilt Kintyre Peninsula, fringed with dazzling beaches and
quaint seaside villages. Then pop over to the teeny island of Gigha
and visit the award-winning Achamore Gardens. If whisky is your
tipple, make note that the Isle of Islay produces a considerable
number of the world's finest malts.
Walking in Argyll is fantastic. Explore the Argyll Forest Park;
follow the West Highland Way or Lowland Highland Trail; head to The
Trossachs or the Ochil Hills for serious hill walking; or to the
Isle of Jura for mesmerising island views. Other forms of
recreation include horse-riding, sailing, fishing, cycling and
golf.
Wherever you go, whatever you do, an Argyll cottage holiday
promises a fascinating experience for everyone!
