Climb up to the ruins of Restormel Castle for great views all around. For interesting architecture, more good shops, a lively weekly market and plenty of places to eat and drink, explore the old town of Liskeard.

Discover the landscapes of Bodmin Moor on foot or horseback, or opt for the stylish alternative aboard an immaculately restored steam locomotive. Admire the displays and aromas of the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, known by some as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World'. Seek out the Cornish delights of the National Trust such as the magnificent estate of Lanhydrock.

Swap country for coast and head south to an array of attractive resorts and picturesque coves. Build the biggest ever sandcastle, go big game hunting for shark or learn how to dive in Looe. Sample sensational seafood in one of Polperro's many harbour-side restaurants, a picture-postcard village, thankfully traffic-free and full of character. Hoist the sails and float by yacht along the coast from Fowey.
