Uncover the history and hidden gems of Kidwelly

The town is an ancient one, with the first written reference dating back to the 9th century. Kidwelly plays host to a Norman church and a well-preserved castle, built in the 13th century by Edward I Longshanks. Close to the castle is Maes Gwenllian, a field famous for being the site of the battle between Princess Gwenllian of Deheubarth's rebellion and subsequent beheading. There are plenty of other historic places to visit around Kidwelly, follow the black cat trail and uncover even more hidden gems.

Kidwelly lies above Camarthen Bay, on the banks of the River Gwendraeth, just 10 miles from Llanelli. Ideally located for exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast, the Brecon Beacons and the Gower Peninsula, a holiday cottage in Kidwelly makes the perfect base for touring the West of Wales.
