Rothbury Cottages
Please find below a selection of self catering holiday
cottages in Rothbury, Northumberland.
In the middle of Northumberland, our Rothbury holiday cottages
are just three minutes to the hills and thirty to the coast.
Rothbury is an attractive market town with a village-like
atmosphere and is known as the 'Capital of Coquetdale'.
Enjoy a stroll along the River Coquet, browse the delightful
shops, or have a bite to eat in a local pub or tea room.
The Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park are both
close by - idyllic playgrounds for lovers of the 'great
outdoors'. From rambling, hill walking and fishing, to horse
riding, cycling and mountain biking, there's something for
everyone whether you're an aficionado or an amateur.
Even closer are Harwood Forest and the Simonside Hills, both
wonderful for walking and the latter a popular haunt for rock
climbers with three fine crags. Wildlife enthusiasts are in for a
treat too, with red squirrels, deer, badgers, wild goats and an
abundance of birdlife all in the area.
Or soak up the scenery from the fairways of Rothbury's
18-hole course, or from your car along quiet country roads weaving
through the countryside.
Visit the National Trust's Cragside Estate, just a couple of
miles from Rothbury. Explore the home of Victorian industrialist,
Lord Armstrong - the first house to be lit by hydro-electricity -
and play hide and seek with the children in the rhododendron
labyrinth. Look out for Lady's Well at Holystone, Harbottle
Castle and Brinkburn Priory too.
Round off the day at your Rothbury cottage, stoking the fire on
a winter's night or sipping a sundowner alfresco style in
summer.
