Blencathra (Saddleback)
Start near the White Horse Inn in Scales. You can park in the small plot of land designated for parking. Avoid parking on the roads outside as this can block access.
Walk back towards the inn and then double back onto the road above you. Walk along this road until you reach a sheepfold, just as the road starts to dip down, and then take the footpath that is right behind it.
Follow this path up until you reach a choice of a hard left with steep climb or carrying on directly up. Follow the hard left.
Follow this path up and over to the right as it starts to ascend towards the summit. The route is pretty straightforward from here and on clear days you’ll be able to see your destination clearly. The path will undulate but stick to the gravel and keep heading west for views over Keswick as you reach the summit.
Once you are done, turn around and retrace your steps.
