    “Family weekend away- great place”
Stayed here for a long weekend with family/pooch and had a great time. Location is very peaceful, lovely views of the Vrnwy valley. The owners couldn't meet us but they had left a welcome card and some shortbread and had previously contacted me to tell me where to pick up the key. Great cottage, separate dining room/sun room; cosy lounge with wood burner and plenty of logs. There are a couple of steps down to the lounge but there is a hand rail on the wall if required. Kitchen is small but has everything you need including a freezer. Bathroom spacious and equiped for the less able of us. The downstairs bedroom is a good size, 2 single beds, my Mum found it very comfortable. The main double room is a good size. The single room is small, and if the extra bed is up it is a little cramped but we managed ok. Easy access to Vrnwy and the main Conway road. Shop not far, can walk if you feel active. Overall a very cosy place in the heart of north wales, the owners are lovely and I would highly recommend staying here.

About the location

LAKE VYRNWY

Bala 13 miles.

This wonderful beauty spot is referred to as “a lake for all seasons”. It is situated just south of Snowdonia between the Cambrian Mountains and the Berwyn range. It was originally a Victorian man-made reservoir with a stone-built damn built in the 1880’s being the very first of its kind. Today, this beautiful and popular retreat is a National Nature Reserve, SSSI and a renowned RSPB reserve boasting a huge variety of birds and wildlife. The lake has a circumference of 11 miles which is all surrounded by wonderful scenic countryside including the 6000 acre Dyfnant Forest which is perfect for exhilarating walks, bike rides, bird watching or simply relaxing while enjoying a picnic. The local village of Llanwddyn is very small and pleasant and provides a pub, cafes, RSPB shop and craft and produce outlets. From this lovely location you can tour all of Mid Wales, the magnificent Snowdonia National Park, Powis Castle and gardens and delightful Shropshire. This is a perfect year-round location.
