Situated on the River Goyt, at the head of the beautiful Peak Forest Canal, is the peaceful little town of Whaley Bridge. The settlement is centred around a picturesque conservation area and the Grade II listed Transhipment Warehouse, one of many reminders of Whaley Bridge's fascinating industrial and aquatic heritage.

There is a variety of active things to do in Whaley Bridge. Walk or cycle along the scenic canal towpath to another such heritage site, the Bugsworth Basin, the terminus for the Peak Forest Canal and one of the largest and busiest inland canal ports in Britain. Regarded as the gateway to the Goyt Valley, with the Bugsworth Basin being the starting point of the Goyt Way, you will find plenty of fantastic walking opportunities in the area, and we have a selection of holiday cottages in Whaley Bridge that are ideal for active breaks.
