The property

Nestled on the Isle of Portland, overlooking Church Ope Cove and set within its own private grounds, this enchanting castle welcomes you to live your very own fairy tale in a wonderful area of Dorset.

Pennsylvania Castle offers stunning accommodation for you to celebrate a special occasion and share a memorable break with your family and friends.

The truly spectacular joy of this castle are the uninterrupted sea views and its spacious interior wrapped in over 200 years of Portland stone and a long history.

Enter through the private gates and down the driveway to the impressive façade of your holiday castle, taking itS all in and enjoying every moment of your stay here.

Make your way through the front double doors into an impressive and yet cosy hallway, where a crystal chandelier glistens in the light and gives you the complete feeling of castle luxury.

Off the hallway, you will find a spacious study, perfect for retiring to of an evening, with drinks and light refreshments as you catch up on events from the day.

The library has incredible double-height arched windows, which give you your first glimpses of the tantalising sea views, the perfect place for curling up with a good book and a glass of wine.

Next, you will find the conservatory, where the double doors open onto a large patio that runs the length of the castle and offers extensive water-facing views.

Why not start the day with breakfast in this beautiful space?

Or enjoy meals alfresco on the patio to make the most of the glorious vistas one sunny morning.

Finally, you will reach the drawing room, which has more of those superb sea views but also showcases something even more spectacular, the octagonal table, which played a historic part in the final preparations for the D-Day invasion.

King George VI, Prime Minster Winston Churchill, Free French leader General Charles De Gaulle, and General Dwight Eisenhower gathered to finalise their plan around this table, which was covered with maps.

In this room you will also find a lovely feature fireplace and cosy seating for those wishing to catch up on their favourite TV shows, presuming they can steal themselves away from the sea views.

There is a second conservatory housing an indoor heated swimming pool, where everyone can relax on a lounger or enjoy a refreshing swim.

Opposite this conservatory are the changing rooms for the pool, boasting travertine floor tiles, benches and sinks, lush green ferns and many other beautiful features to wrap you in a luxurious feel.

The dining room is spacious, perfect for hosting formal family dinners, in fact why not hire in someone to do the catering for you, although you may rather enjoy using the fully equipped, high-end kitchen instead.

Taking the stairs by the front door hallway, you will arrive at the start of the bedrooms on the first floor, all of which en-suite on this level.

Each of the bedrooms have an individual personality, own décor and signature scent, with either views over the luscious gardens or towards the shimmering blue sea - no two rooms are the same!

The bedroom 'Orpheus' is located in the turret, a circular room with four feature windows, captivating views and a giant, emperor-size bed, as well as a deep-soaking roll top bath tub for indulging after a long day exploring the local attractions.

The mezzanine-style floor hosts two further bedrooms, which were traditionally used for the servants and have lower ceilings, yet are no less impressive than the other bedrooms.

To the outside are large, enclosed private gardens enveloping this enchanting property, with a cascading waterfall and water features within the grounds, perfect for picnics and afternoon strolls before relaxing on one of many patio areas.

The large terrace is ideal for soaking up a sunny afternoon with a drink or relaxed alfresco dining.
