There are wonderful walking opportunities from the doorstep of this cottage near Rosedale Abbey, and the nearby pretty market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Malton have two excellent golf courses.

Visit the historic abbeys at Rievaulx and Byland and take a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway nearby at Pickering.

Castle Howard and the historic city of York are well worth visiting from this Rosedale Abbey cottage and the seaside resorts of Whitby, Filey and Scarborough are within easy reach.

Situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and handily placed for touring both the Moors and the Coast, the picturesque village of Rosedale Abbey is set within Rosedale, a beautiful valley of sweeping hillsides and breathtaking views. Rosedale is surrounded by wonderful moorland countryside with footpaths and bridleways radiating out in every direction. Today, a stone pillar, staircase and sundial are all that is left of the 12th century Cistercian Priory that gave the village its unusual name. Charming stone built cottages cluster around the village green alongside the village shops, tea rooms, glass studio and three old country pubs/restaurants. For entertainment visit Rosedale Abbey's very own pitch-and-putt golf course and riding stables. Follow this with a visit to Ryedale Folk Museum in the pretty village of Hutton-le-Hole. Alternatively, embrace the outdoors and "Go Ape" in Dalby forest for a truly memorable and adventurous family fun day out. Visit Rievaulx and Byland Abbeys and take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at nearby Pickering. Golfers will enjoy a round on the picturesque course at Kirkbymoorside and anglers can try their luck trout fishing at Pickering. Enjoy a trip to Helmsley Castle and Gardens and take a dip in the open air swimming pool. The coastal towns and fishing villages of the Yorkshire Coast are within easy driving distance.
