Embsay Cottages
Toot toot! All aboard! When you book a cottage in Embsay,
you'll soon find yourself pottering about the delightful
station, with its cosy tearoom and award-winning bookshop. It is
home to the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and in the
holidays and at weekends, you can chug along the tracks and then
enjoy a leisurely stroll to the magnificent 12th Century Bolton
Abbey Priory. Explore the ruins and enjoy the surroundings - the
Estate offers 30,000 acres of stunning countryside crisscrossed
with woodland, riverside and moorland paths. Enjoy a picnic or
indulge in a cream tea. Pick up something special in one of the
gift shops. And when you've had your fill, hop back on the
train or stick with boots and enjoy a four-mile walk back to your
Embsay cottage. Look out for special events too, especially during
school holidays, when families and enthusiasts gather for days out
with Thomas and Ivor the Engine.
Other walks from your Embsay cottage…
Embsay is absolutely perfect if you like your holidays to focus
on walking and just north of the village is Embsay Crag, gateway to
Barden Moor where you'll find a couple of reservoirs and a
whole stack of footpaths. What else? A couple of pubs, village
shop, cricket, football and a village hall with jumble sales and
pantomimes. For a wider range of amenities, Skipton's just down
the road and offers a popular street market, cobbled streets, canal
boats and a splendid castle. So if you're after a relaxing
holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, try an Embsay cottage!
