  • "An attractive clean warm comfortable cottage with helpful information and books."

    I really liked the choices of furniture, colours etc. Also some lovely ornaments and prints around the place which made it homely. Heptonstall is a peaceful village and a great base for walking in the area, altho I used the bus to get back up again a few times, it’s very reliable and the stop is on the road. (I have already suggested in the guest book that a knife block would be preferable to loose sharp knives in the drawer.)

  • "Fabulous location, beautiful village- lovey stay."

    Super clean cottage with everything you need plus thoughtful little extras. Didn’t need to take anything. Very comfy beds and blackout curtains made for a great sleep. Smart TV to watch whatever you want. A home from home. Local tearoom and pub in the village are great. Bus stop outside down to Hebden Bridge, and amazing walks on your doorstop. Will be back!

  • "A really lovely, cosy cottage for a winter weekend."

    Everything works, the log burner is great and there’s all you could need kitchen-wise. And only 100 yards from the White Lion pub, which does great ale and a legendary Sunday lunch! Woujd stay again.

  • "What a wonderful place!"

    We (2 adults and 2 teenagers) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cobbles Cottage. It is really cosy and homely, furnished really tastefully, and immaculately clean. It’s a little bit like a tardis in that from the outside it looks small but is actually very spacious inside. Loved the village and local walks and had pleasant days out visiting nearby places (Haworth, Saltaire, Oakworth (railway children station), Bingley (5 locks), and Halifax). Would thoroughly recommend.

  • "Cobbles Cottage is a great place to stay."

    We loved it. Situated in the heart of Heptonstall the cottage is a brilliant base for walks and accessing Hebden Bridge. There are two good pubs and a cafe within easy walking distance. The Cross Inn offers fab Thai food. The cottage itself is spacious, comfy and has everything you need. We will definitely stay again if we're back in the area.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Cobble Cottage and loved that it’s traditional but with modern touches."

    It was so cosy in the evenings with the wood burner. The cottage is in a great location within a lovely village. Both pubs are only a short walk away and offer a good selection of real ales. The tearoom is also superb, the homemade cheesecake is so tasty! There are lots of good walks straight from the cottage. We also walked into Hebden Bridge 3 times and only got the bus back once! Whoever stays here will have a brilliant time.

  • "Cobbles Cottage is in an excellent location in Heptonstall!"

    What a beautiful area! The key collection was straightforward, as were the parking instructions. And the cottage has a bus stop just outside which is excellent. This lovely cottage provided for our needs during our stay (although it would have been helpful to have clearer instructions regarding the wood burner - it wasn't obvious which way the damper should be set to make the fire burn properly). Bed (1st floor) was comfortable and even though we didn't use the little garden, it was nice to be able to look out on it from the kitchen table. We enjoyed the book collection in the living room and chose a walk from one of them. (We inadvertently left with this book which we posted back to the cottage last week - many apologies for that!) Only slight negative would be that previous guests' recycling was still in the bin in the kitchen when we arrived. However, we sorted it and added it to our own for collection later. Thank you!

    Nice cottage and we enjoyed our stay Maybe a wall clock somewhere down stairs would be good and some egg cups and a toast rack On arrival the bins in the kitchen had not been emptied from the previous occupants so the cleaner had missed that Overall we were pleased with our stay

  • "We are regular visitors to this cottage and will continue to do so as we love the village, Hebden and surrounding countryside."

    This was our 6th visit and the standards seem to be slipping each visit, which is a shame as our initial visits we provided extremely positive feedback. Do not see the below as negative, but it's difficult to ignore the obvious. Tiny bit of toilet paper no spare ones. 1 dishwasher tablet No fire lighters for fire Bedside lamp not working Bath needs a good clean around shower screen seal and overflow bath tap. Hand wash replenished with water Dirty wet cloths on side of sink in kitchen. Front yard needs a good tidying up, I did pick up the plastic containers and wet cardboard that were outside in the front yard.

  • "Fantastic cottage we loved it so much we wished we had booked for longer."

    The bed in the attic room is the best and comfiest bed we've slept in that I've gone and ordered the same mattress and duvet etc for home. Loved the village and easy ride into Hebden Bridge. We're back later this year. This is a cottage that is of the very highest quality

The property

Cobbles Cottage is an inviting mid-terrace grade 2 listed cottage, lying on a quaint cobbled street in the charming village of Heptonstall, West Yorkshire.

Step inside to the sitting room with flagstone floors and exposed beams honouring the history of the property and where a toasty woodburning stove takes centre stage, a welcome addition to cosy up in front of after a day of walking.

From here, the kitchen/diner is well-equipped for home-cooked meals, with Quartz worktops, SMEG oven, Nespresso coffee machine and a handy dishwasher.

Step out into the cottage garden to the rear, where a bistro dining set welcomes you to enjoy your morning coffee in the peaceful setting.

When it is time to rest, the first floor hosts a king-size bedroom with a feature fireplace and wardrobe space, along with a sleek bathroom to freshen up in.

Moving through the property, a study finishes off the first floor, with scenic views of the hills.

The village of Heptonstall is set high on a prominent hillside above its close neighbour, Hebden Bridge. Heptonstall is one of West Yorkshire's best kept secrets; a wonderfully preserved village with a main street that has changed very little in the last 200 years. Formerly an important centre for hand-loom weaving, the village still retains its original trading hall, while the old Grammar School, by the churchyard, is now a museum testifying to the village's illustrious past. The churchyard is also the burial home for the American poet, novelist & short-story writer Sylvia Plath, perhaps best known for her collections of published poems & novel "The Bell Jar". Heptonstall was a place she stayed in before & during her marriage to the poet Ted Hughes. In the centre are the two remaining pubs, the Cross Inn, believed to date from the early 17th century, and the White Lion, rumoured to be haunted by a Roundhead on a horse, a throwback to when the village was besieged during the Civil War. Nearby is the attractive town of Hebden Bridge, while the area is a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway. Skipton, the Gateway to the Dales, is an easy and scenic car ride away.
