"Brilliant place to stay."
Really spacious with plenty of seating options in each area (I don't know why so many places get stingy with sofas & dining chairs compared to beds!) and well equipped kitchen. Particular highlight for us was how brilliant it was for the dogs: really secure & spacious garden, blanket & treats provided and great recommendations in listing for nearby walks etc. Would definitely recommend and keen to come again!

"We decided to take a late summer holiday in the Peak District and found this lovely home from home."
So quiet, not too far from amenities (Leek is just down the road and has everything you need), and very close to some amazing walks. WiFi is excellent. And the weather was surprisingly good! Looking forward to visiting again.

"An excellent place for our family ( 4 adults and 2 children) peace and quiet which is what we were looking for."
Beautiful clean and all the facilities you need. I am over 6 foot tall and it would be useful in the description to advise the door height is low downstairs as caught my head early on hence the lower score for the listing accuracy. TV in the living room could do with replacing as picture quality not great however we were not there to watch tv it was only noticeable in the evening when settling before bed. Thoroughly recommend just be careful if you are tall.
Thanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed your stay, I do understand that downstairs is lower ceilings than upstairs, unfortunately due to it being a grade 2 listed building and what plans were approved at the time it's something that can't be helped.(hence the "duck" pictures on beams) My son is 6ft 5
The TV Is something we are looking into replacing shortly.

"The cottage was lovely."
The garden was great for our large dog. Small dogs could get out under gate. May be some mesh would stop this as it was a five bar gate. Our dog doesn’t go far so we weren’t worried. When booking this cottage with dogs you should be aware of neighbours dog running loose and not friendly to our dog. Lots to do in the area. Lovely cottage cafe at end of road a 5min drive. Just the other side of Leek there’s a country park where you can excercise your dogs. Morrisons not far in Leek.
Glad you enjoyed your stay! We are very lucky to have such great countryside.
In response to extra mesh on the gates, we have thought about this, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't stop little dogs,it certainly wouldn't stop out 2 Jack's lol.We do however recommend that due to being close to a working farm, that dogs are kept on leads to be on the safe side for all parties.(Including neighbours dog) We have spoken to neighbours about this ...I'm not sure exactly what happened,as their dog is normally a big softie and is fine with other dogs previously They have however promised me he will be kept away in future.

"This is a nice big house with plenty of parking front and/or back, very clean, and the large garden is definitely dog-escape-proof, which was a definite plus for us with our 2 Red Setters."
The large kitchen-diner has a wall-mounted tv, there's a fridge-freezer, and the oven/gas-rings and washing-machine were easy to operate, although instructions for the 700w m'wave and the 2 tv's would be useful. The very large tv lounge was cosy for relaxing in the evenings. Upstairs, the wc/shower-room is nearest to the 2 twins, the wc/bathroom with shower over is nearest to the 2 doubles, where the c.h. boiler can be a bit audible at times.
The very friendly, helpful and obliging owners Lisa and Dave have left a folder of useful notes for local amenities, dustbin-day, vets, doctors etc, also local restaurants (we recommend The Black Lion in Butterton) and other amenities, and although the house itself is in a "black hole" for mobiles, the wifi works absolutely fine. Leek, Ashbourne, and Ilam Park (NT) are all within 12-15 miles, while Alton Towers is about 20 miles away. There's a nearby Wild Animal park, which we didn't manage to visit this time round. We can also recommend Hartington Village Store, about 15 mins drive away, where the cafe further on through the shop offers the most unbelievable cakes (Sticky Toffee Pudding and Stem Ginger cake...) - so Dieters Beware!
All in all, we are pleased to say that this is a good base for exploring the southern end of the Peak district.
Hi Marianne, Thanks for for great review, it's much appreciated So glad you enjoyed your stay! It was lovely to meet you both.Hope to see you again and of course the fur babies

"A lovely size property in very rural surroundings
but not very well appointed."
Everything was a little faded and wornout. There were only two of us but I think it would be a struggle for
8 !!
Hi Clive,
Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay at Ford Coach House Cottage.
We try our best as a 2-man team to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay, including very high cleanliness standards throughout the property.
As you can appreciate, this property is a coach house barn conversion, so we are limited with what we can achieve space-wise. However, we have accommodated 8 people comfortably, and we have many excellent reviews to support this.
We have ensured that there is everything you could need during your stay, and had you have raised any issues and concerns at the time, we would have happily met these requirements.
We endeavour to provide the best service possible, so any further feedback regarding your stay and how we could improve is welcome.
Best wishes,
Lisa

"The cottage was clean and comfortable and met all our needs."
The garden was neat and tidy and ideal for the dogs and children who spent any free time playing out there.
As we spent our days out walking at Mam Tor and Thors cave etc., it was lovely to come back to the cottage to relax for the evenings.
The beds were comfy and the living room area a good size for eight people.
Kitchen had everything we required, welcome biscuits were much enjoyed.
Thank you and we hope to return some time.

"Absolutely lovely stay."
The cottage was so warm, comfy and spacious. Everything you possibly need and a huge outside space.
We had 6 guests - 3 OAPs, 2 adults and 1 toddler + dog and all we're catered for.
It was great, the owners had set up a child gate at the top of the stairs and travel cot including lovely bedding for when we arrived.
There was even some chocolates, biscuits and milk when we got there. It was well stocked with tea and coffee. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use.
TV and WiFi were absolutely fine, we didn't struggle for the internet.
We also had a Tesco delivery and they found it really easily.
Location wise it was great. Us youngsters went off to Alton towers while the older members and dog went off exploring the peaks.
Fab!
Thanks for having us.
Hi Jessica,

"Great location in this comfortable cottage."
Lounge and dining area very spacious. Beds comfortable. Pity that the one bathroom had a hand held shower over the bath. Could really do with an electric shower powered by a motor to give greater flow.
Overall a very pleasant, comfortable property, enjoyed by all.
HI John ..thanks for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed your stay :-) An over bath shower is on our to do list, but you can still have a lovely bubble bath or a shower in the second bathroom :-) Electric Shower over the bath is now complete

"Overall the property offered the perfect space for 8 of us and a dog."
Ample parking and lovely outdoor area - the kids loved playing in the nearby river.
The location of the property, for the activities and the places we wanted to visit, was ideal. A plus would be a pub in suitable walking distance for the kids, but we survived!
There are a couple of areas i'd recommend which would have made the stay slightly better. Firstly, the mattresses in some rooms were very soft. This didn't suit all our party but having an extra fold out bed came in handy. We had to ask for some bedding for this, which Jane provided. Secondly, having just one shower for 8 of us became a logistical challenge. If both bathrooms had showers it would be much better. Finally, there was no welcome book. This would be really helpful to understand key points about the property and location - heating, contact numbers, local eateries, when to put the recycling out (we followed suit with the neighbours as the bin was full halfway through our week -- not all from us!). Some leaflets on places to visit were available.
Forgot to mentioned, we had to buy bin bags as only one was provided and a whisk!
Saying this didn't majority impact our stay and to be welcomed with a big biscuit selection and Haribo pleased the kids.
Thanks Jane for a pleasant visit.
Hi Julie,
Thanks for your feedback.....I will look into putting in a second electric shower maybe.. …the second bathroom does offer a bath with a hand held shower.
The mattresses' …. we are all different in our requirements and as the saying goes you can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but not please all of the people all of the time. I've now put a booklet together with extra info on more places around about....also will note to leave an extra bin bag , I have now replaced whisk that I hadn't realised was missing... apologies.
kind regards

"The only problem was with theelectric shower, we couldn't get it to stay clipped so it wasn't facing the wall."
The property itself is lovely, clean, well presented and well furnished and so snug. It is in a lovely location and ideal distance for alton towers and exploring the area! We used it as a base for the theme park and would definitely stay here again if coming as a larger group. We even had no mobile signal which was a nice break from work calls though did mean when one of the group got lost finding it, we had to go searching!
Hi Kirsty,
Sorry you had a problem with the shower bracket, our cleaner pointed out that it had broken, if you had given me a was sap message,
I would have gladly come down and replaced it.
There is a little mobile signal in the top end bedroom, we are located in a peaceful rural valley, but phone calls can be made through the free Wi fi.
Glad you enjoyed your stay :-)

In a small Hamlet accessed via single track road with plenty of parking and great walks from the door it is easy to relax indoors and very peaceful. Leek and supermarkets etc are only about 10 mins drive so easy to access and the property is spacious cottage with loads of potential and a generous welcome pack. Thanks for a relaxing stay
