Every detail has been thought of - it is so well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It’s also very convenient for both the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. I great find - and thoroughly recommended!

The cottage is in the countryside overlooking a sheep field . The particulars on line do not show the cosiness and luxury finishes in the cottage, such as electric blankets, dog bed and blankets, the toiletries and the welcome pack etc. Thanks for a lovely weekend we will definitely be back. The weather was lovely so did some fabulous walks which we could recommend up Hutton Crag and Arnside Knott and had great nights out at the Highwayman and The Brewery in Kirby Lonsdale.

It's clear how much care and attention has gone into making this a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. The welcome hamper was amazing - delicious homemade cookies! The cottage is really well placed for walking and exploring Arnside and Silverdale and we particularly enjoyed our short hike to the limestone pavements on Newbiggin Crags. We were only there for a couple of days but really enjoyed our time there and would love to return! Kate and Michael

The cottage was immaculate, plenty of logs & stater pack for the log burner, the bathroom products were exclusive, great for a break in the lakes & yorkshire dales. A lot of effort has gone into making the cottage first class with good communication (letting us know when the cottage was available on the first day so we did not have to wait around), credit to the owners

  • "Wonderful little cottage, beautifully decorated and generously provisioned."

Welcome packs for humans and dogs both great, huge home-made lemon drizzle cake fantastic! My other half was particularly delighted by all the lovely bathroom products, far beyond what we'd usually expect, a real treat. All exceptionally well presented and while dog-friendly, you'd never know a dog had been there in terms of cleanliness or doggie aromas - all good. Sofa and bed comfy, bathroom surprisingly large for the size and type of property, kitchen well equipped and easy to use (didn't touch the Aga - regular cooker fine!). Location is ideal for accessing the south lakes, the coast and the Yorkshire dales giving endless options for places to go - we headed off in all directions during our week at the cottage and very much enjoyed our travels. Tesco less than 20 mins away, local supermarket (Booths) 10 mins so practical too. Parking excellent - safe and very close to the cottage. Others have noted traffic on the road is fast, which it is, but it's incredibly infrequent - 20 minutes could go by without seeing a car sometimes so definitely not problematic! The road is also straight and flat so very long lines of sight if you happen to be walking the dog when a car comes along. No hesitation in recommending, hope to be back one day soon.

The welcome you receive is one of the very best. We had a gorgeous homemade lemon drizzle cake, fresh bread and butter, milk, crisps, wine and dog treats. There are also the finest toiletries in the bathroom to the freshest of bed linens. The high standard of the accessories are something you might have in your own home not something that you let out. We had music playing as we arrived which we felt was also very welcoming. The cottage is situated in a fab spot for Kirkby Lonsdale, devils bridge and much more. The highwayman pub is a must as the food was amazing. You really are in for a treat should you decide to try this little cottage. We took our 87 year old father who loved it and our two border terriers who settled straight away. Thank you to Sue and Paul as you really have thought of everything !! Love The Harpers x

  • "We had an amazing holiday at Moor Cottage."

The Cottage is ideally situated with half an hour's drive of the Lake District and 15 minutes drive to the beach. Parking is great (off road) and facilities are perfect, with a well equipped kitchen, really comfy lounge with plenty of seating and a smart TV and wi fi. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the bathroom is lovely with a really big shower. There are also great special touches which makes this feel really luxurious (we had a homemade personalised chocolate cake and sweets for our 4 year old son, and some comfort packs and chews for our dogs, locally baked bread, crisps, butter, and a stocked up coffee machine and speciality teas). The towels were the nicest smelling towels I have ever experienced and the products in the bathroom made a beautiful and luxury finishing touch. The fact that most of the cleaning products around the cottage were eco friendly was a really nice finishing touch too. The road at the front of the property is not used a lot but cars do seem to go very fast down the straight, so that made it somewhat tricky getting the dogs somewhere suitable to go to the loo, and we kept the chain lock across to make sure our four year old was safe. But other than that this was a truly magical place to stay. Thank you!

Thank you Tanya for your kind and comprehensive feedback and so pleased that you all enjoyed your holiday at Moor Cottage. It was my pleasure to bake a cake for your son and only wished I could have seen his face when he saw his name on top of the cake. We are very dog friendly and glad that they enjoyed their stay too! A super location ideal for visiting local beauty spots yet tucked away to give peace and quiet. Despite the persistent showers whilst we were there, a slice of the owner’s homemade date and ginger cake as part of the welcome pack certainly lifted our spirits! This was the first time away with my one year old Cocker spaniel and he too was made welcome with his own little welcome pack! I would highly recommend a visit to Moor Cottage. I would certainly like to return at some point in the future. A little gem!

The bed was so comfortable, I’m not a good sleeper, but for 10 nights I slept better than I have for 20 years! It was pleasant to cook in the kitchen with everything you could of needed, we ran out of coffee one day and Sue kindly dropped some more around on the same day, Sue is a wonderful host, she was just one text away for advice and suggestions and I couldn’t recommend her cottage and hospitality more. One piece of advice I’d give is to use the back door rather than the front to get in and out, the cottage is on our main (ish) road, so if you are travelling with dogs or children it’s much easier and safer, the main source of traffic passing were tractors! :) Stunning location, gorgeous log burner and so many places to visit, Ingleton Falls was our favourite and the Highwayman pub is up there with one of the best pub meals we’ve ever had, you must try the cheese pie!

Thank you both so very much for the wonderful feedback which was kind of you to write. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Moor Cottage and were able to rest, relax and sleep in the peaceful location. I do hope Bino has settled back home. Kindest regards, Sue Property Owner

We were greeted with lots of goodies and the dogs found and devoured their chews within one minute of entering. The attention to detail was outstanding. Cute clothes hangers, pictures, lovely mirrors, high quality kitchen contents, spotlessly clean, Molton Brown soaps, beds, bowls and blankets for the dogs, ample parking, beautiful decor and comfy furniture. The bathroom and shower was top quality. It was a pleasure to stay with lovely views of fields, sheep and a barn. Nice neighbours who helped eat the lovely massive home made chocolate cake left for us. I would highly recommend this cottage. Dogs must be kept on a lead outside at all times. A perfect position to explore the Lakes and surrounding villages. Country Harvest near Ingleton sell the best ever steak pies and the bakers in KL have the best cakes/bread in the area. Dip your feet in the river at KL and visit Ingleton Falls with your dog (4 miles). The Barbon Inn is a great place for Sunday lunch. We hope to come back xxx

On arrival the lamp had been left on, fire prepared ready to light and the radio on. It felt just like coming home. I did arrive as a vegan and lapsed for the day after entering the kitchen and finding the homebakes, which we’re looking at me!! Very nice indeed, as was the rest of the welcome package. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you could possibly need to cook a meal. I was happy to discover a bright torch in one of the cupboards as I had left mine back at home, it came in handy for walking the dogs in the evening. Upstairs the bathroom is spacious, with a lovely walk in shower, fluffy towels. There are two bedrooms a double at the back and single at the front, both had extremely comfortable beds, pillows and quilts and the added bonus of electric blankets. Both furnished to a high standard. Throughout the home, there are little added no expense spared items like the reed diffusers in the lounge, kitchen and bathroom. They smell so nice. And the pictures in the wall, more than once i got up off the cosy couch to inspect the detail in them. I would absolutely love to return to this cottage, likely one summer as the weather was unkind on this visit, it didn’t stop us doing what we wanted though. The cottage is well placed for Ingleton falls and the Lake District area, we have had a proper look around including flashbacks to my childhood from when my grandparents had a caravan at Levens. 5 star accommodation, Paul and Sue, you have got it just right!

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
