  • "Beech Cottage is clean, comfortable, and well equipped."

    Underfloor heating kept the place at a comfortable temperature. The kitchen was well equipped but lacking on worktop space. It was advertised as having views of the Derbyshire Dales, but this was not possible from the cottage itself. Only a view across the nearby farm.

    Sally and David are welcoming hosts and have created a gem of a property in the Peak District. Spotless clean, well equipped and a great base from which to explore. Within easy reach of Matlock, Cromford, Bakewell, Chatsworth etc. You won't be disappointed if you book a stay at Beech Cottage!

  • "We enjoyed a lovely stay at Beech Cottage for 7 days."

    A beautiful setting and a beautifully restored building on a working farm. Peaceful and very comfortable. We experienced a very small and short lived issue with broadband connection which Sally & David responded to immediately. The shower would be the only item we would say wasn't ideal with low pressure and open-sided which required a little mopping-up each time. Otherwise, it was absolutely brilliant accommodation and we would definitely visit again. Elizabeth & Matt.

  • "Beautiful place, however no privacy from neighbouring properties meant having to keep the blinds down inside."

    I found the mattress uncomfortable and the water pressure on the shower poor. A comfortable bed is high on the list of priorities when staying away and for this reason alone I would not stay there again.

  • "I stayed at the Beech cottage and it was perfectly splendid!"

    I was visiting the Peak District for a solo hiking trip and this place was cherry on top, so warm and cosy and had all the amenities available. David and Sally were amazing, welcoming and very informative. The cottage itself is spectacular, I wish I could live there permanently, the character, the original features, the modernisation is beautiful, I couldn't compliment this place enough. Thank you so much for having me and I have already recommended to friends and family who are very keen to visit, I know I will be booking again.

    The cottage is beautiful with old features maintained alongside modern furnishings & touches. Being on a working farm with access to see the bulls and views of the valley made it very special.   • "Driving up to the property is very pleasing, the cottages have been restored very tastefully."

    It’s in a quiet area so sitting out in the court yard in the sun is a delight The cottage is just perfect in every way . There is a Jack and gill bath room ,very handy There lots to see in the area ,and a couple of pubs good food in the bear . We found sally very friendly and on hand if needed Beech cottage was spotless and warm when we arrived thanks to the underfloor heating .and a lovely rose in a vase picked freshly so nice as it was our anniversary.just made it special We would definitely recommend it and we will be back very soon Thank you .

    I feel privileged that I was the first person to stay in Beech cottage. It is by far the most beautiful cottage I have ever stayed in. Very stylish and complete. Beautiful views & quiet surroundings. Close to walks, museums and Towns in Derwent river valley and Peak district.

The Fold Yard

The Fold Yard is an exceptional collection of eight properties that were originally constructed between 1895 and 1900. These lovely properties rest on a working farm amongst the scenic hills of Alderwasley, Derbyshire. Each of these has a wonderful farm-themed interior, private patios and an excellent location close to the Peak District National Park. The Fold Yard are ideal for families, friends and even couples who are looking to explore this luxurious province. While residing at The Fold Yard you can visit Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Kedleston Hall. Alderwasley is renowned for beautiful walks through Shining Cliff woods and the Midshires Way runs through the village near to Fold Yards. Locally the Great British Car Experience and the White Peak Distillery are only 2 miles away. The market town of Wirksworth is 2 and 1/2 miles away with local amenities, restaurants, St Mary's Walk where the ancient St Mary's Church stands, the Ecclesbourne Heritage Railway, Black Rocks and the High Peak Cycle Trail leading to Tissington. Alderwasley is on the boundary of Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Venture to the Heights of Abraham where you can soak up the brilliant views on a cable car journey, thereafter, head to the Great Masson Cavern located here for a subterranean adventure. Wirksworth 2 miles; Belper 7 miles.

Alderwasley is a scattered area of farms and a couple of local pubs located in lovely rolling countryside with undisturbed views for miles, on the southern borders of the Peak District National Park. Nearby Wirksworth is a small, charming market town on the edge of the White Peak, and is full of character, with many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient "jitties" and courtyards, and the National Stone Centre, as well as the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there is good walking all around. Well Dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and Wirksworth combines this tradition with a lively carnival. The annual Arts festival attracts international performers of every kind. Close to Alderwasley is Belper which is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th Century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds true today. Now a spirited and bustling town, attractions include the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. Beautiful Chatsworth House, Shottle Hall and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as well as Matlock Bath with its spectacular cable car, the newly restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver's Kingdom. Only 2 miles away, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is not to be missed. A great location for a varied holiday.
