Beautiful scenery and stunning views from the house. Definitely the best holiday home we have stayed in. The EV charging is an added bonus.

  • "Ferneytoun is a wonderful holiday property."

We had a family get together here in June and we all had a great week. The property has excellent facilities and is perfect for families to get together and is also big enough so everyone has their own space. There is so much to do in the local area. Our group went biking in the local Tarland trails and on The Deeside Way which they thoroughly enjoyed. Bike hire from Ballater was very good and is close enough so you can bike back to the house (they also deliver). There are also some excellent walks nearby. The walk over to Tarland from the house has lovely views and is not too strenuous. We can highly recommend The Commercial pub in Tarland (they have a lovely wee beer garden). Highly recommend this holiday home, we’d love to go back one day.

Very peaceful yet close to the amenities of local towns/villages. Excellent walking area right on the doorstep. Even had a red squirrel visit one morning an unexpected but delightful experience. Would have no problems revisiting.

About the location

BALLATER

Braemar 17 miles; Grantown-on-Spey 38.5 miles; Aberdeen 40 miles.

Situated on the banks of the River Dee, the delightful village of Ballater is a centre for tourism and has much to offer visitors to the area, particularly because of its location in the Cairngorms National Park and its close proximity to Balmoral Castle. This attractive village has a lovely neat village green, specialist shops, charming tea rooms and superior granite cottages, all adding to its genteel ambience. The River Dee flows through Ballater and is well renowned for its salmon fishing during the fishing season. Royal Deeside is so-called because of its connection to the Royal Family, who have frequently visited the town since the time of Queen Victoria. There is excellent walking all around the area, as well as outdoor activities such as cycling, golf, skiing or wildlife excursions. The popular centres of Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore are within easy reach, as is the city of Aberdeen.
