  • "Lovely cottage in a nice village."

We were a party of three adults and two dogs and the cottage had plenty of room. Good enclosed rear garden so ideal for dogs. Despite being dog-friendly the cottage didn’t smell doggy at all and was very clean. Kitchen had everything we required and instructions left by the owners were comprehensive. We found the owners very easy to contact and very helpful. Newborough itself is a nice little village, there are a shop, a cafe and a very friendly pub approx. 100m from the cottage. The forest and stunning beach are a very short drive away.

  • "As always this cosy, comfortable property did not disappoint."

The radiator in the lounge was not working so we had to learn how to use the wood burner, a new experience for us - the room warmed up very quickly once we’d got the hang of it. For us there were no downsides to Rhianfa and our two dogs appreciated the secure rear garden. The local shop and pub were within walking distance and the proprietors were very friendly. Thank you once again. We’ve booked for next year!

Heating was on at the identified times and the whole house was comfortable. The cottage was far larger than expected and this was a welcome bonus and easily catered for our 3 Labradors. The garden was totally secure and we had no worries of the dogs straying.

Comfy beds, great bathroom, plus downstairs w.c and utility Very well equipped, fantastic tv access and wifi Plenty of logs for the fire, very cosy. Excellent consideration for dogs including throws, toys etc. And the garden is very secure - literally, the only thing I would suggest is perhaps a sensor light for the garden so you can see the dogs when it goes dark - but that really is the only comment/suggestion! Really enjoyed our stay, close to newborough.

Downstairs toilet was a bonus which isn't in the write up. Garden beautiful and dog friendly. Even a gift of Welsh cakes and milk when we arrived. Manual was detailed particularly liked the local information including Drs ,vets and hospital . The cottage was a central point for sightseeing. Great location with a children’s play area very close and newborough beach is beautiful. The cottage was generally very clean, the bathroom just needs a little work and there is a damp wall in the main bedroom but other than that it’s perfect. The added extras of now tv, dvds, board games, dog toys etc are a really lovely, homely touch as well as the welcome package on arrival. The garden is huge and is well maintained and fully enclosed for dogs and children. I will 100% be staying again and will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Only thing may be to consider a fan being available, and perhaps a blind for the window on the landing (one of our dogs was constantly keeping us up looking out there!). Also, a side note, the kitchen tap had dropped on the worktop when we arrived as it had been push back so it wasn’t above the sink - meant the welcome box was wet!!

The gardens eating area is nice and there is a bbq which we were pleased at as we barbecued twice during our week. You are provided a cleaning kit which is nice and the only thing that annoyed me was they didn’t leave extra toilet rolls. The garden is enclosed for dogs and you’re provided plenty of wood for using the wood burner if you want to. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would recommend to anyone considering.

Not a great welcome as had to clear up 4+ dog poos from garden on arrival, some had been there more than a day, obviously left from the previous occupants (you know who you are), despite reminders to clear up before leaving the property. Grass was very long and we (and our dog) didn't want to go on it. In general the property is looking sad and could do with some loving care and attention, chipped crockery, hole at base of shower entrance, paint peeling in bedroom, pads on dining chairs extremely stained and settees are saggy! Location however is great and the sun came out for us all the time we were there! Great walking on the beaches in the area.

Newborough forest and beach are beautiful. Yes you do have to park over the road from the cottage but this is hardly any hardship. The garden is safe and secure for the dogs and very private. The cottage is tastefully decorated and has a lovely big kitchen with all the needed facilities. The beds are very comfy. Someone commented that there is no curtain across the hallway at the back of the house. I wouldn't worry about this as there is nobody overlooking the house from the back. Yes the front door does stick so I would just suggest you go in the back way and open the front door from inside, again hardly a hardship. We had a lovely stay here and I couldn't recommend it more. Very good for the price.

Plus everything was a pleasure to use because they were nice things. There is a dishwasher which I was so happy about as I normally spend a lot of time on holiday washing up. We had very limited space in our car but as bedding and towels were included ( which were lovely and clean and fresh) and there was a washing machine it meant we needed less . The garden is nice and secure for dogs and children although I was disappointed that the rattan furniture was not there because it looked like a lovely place to sit. The dustbin did not get emptied while we were there that was the only negative thing .

  • "Directions: There is no signpost to Newborough Forest at crossroads."

Loading/Unloading: Double Yellow lines both sides of road! Front Door: Yale lock so stiff had to enter through rear door. Arrival: Arrived 2 hours after allotted time but shower base and toilet seat still wet. There is no privacy in the cottage - the windows overlooking the street should have venetian blinds. The window at the top of the stairs between the bedrooms and the bathroom has no curtain or blind - quite unbelievable. There are problems with the sink plug in the bathroom - lifting mechanism is rusty and does not operate, making it difficult to empty. The flush button on the downstairs toilet sticks in down position. Cleaning standard was exceptionally poor - lots of dust and dog hairs beside fridge and dust on lip of most skirting boards. The cutlery tray had food debris in several places. The grass on the lawn was very long (photo available) and clearly had not been cut for at least 2 weeks. Considering that we paid just under £1000.00 for this cottage, it was definitely not up to the required standard and we believe that if the owner has a conscience we should be granted a partial refund.
