Fantastic place, lovely views and had everything we needed, some of the chairs in the conservatory where a little broken so we ended up using the bench which was a little uncomfortable as we spent most of the time in the cottage in the conservatory as we did not want to risk them getting more broken everything else was perfect thank you

  • "Our family of 3 generations were lucky enough to spend a week at this beautiful cottage."

We couldn't of asked for anything more, from the space, the homely feel, the cleanliness, the layout was perfect, everything you needed was there, we loved sitting in the dining conservatory for our meals looking out onto the garden and the views were gorgeous, especially the sunsets, oh and the sheep. Plenty of football and games were had in the lovely garden. Lovely comfy beds, we all slept soo well. The cottage was in a perfect position for all our days out, walking, beach, boat, train, climbing and places for our meals, chippy, curry House, Chinese, what more could we of asked for, just perfect. Can I thank the owners of the property for the gifts they left us, such a lovely touch, and for allowing us to share there gorgeous house, we really did not want to leave. Definitely be booking again. Thankyou.

  • "We stayed at Buarthau Cottage for a family holiday for 40th birthday celebrations."

We were a family of 6 adults and one little dog. It was our first visit to Wales and what a wonderful stay it was. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and laid out very well. The facilities at the property exceeded our expectations and the welcome gift was a lovely touch. The rear garden was a great size and as we were very lucky to have nice weather for our entire stay, we made the use of the outdoor space and had a BBQ one of the evening’s. The rear garden was secure and enclosed so we could relax whilst our dog played outside. The sitting room with log burner was a lovely space to relax and unwind in after long days exploring the area. The location was great, only a few mins drive to Caernarfon where we enjoyed some nice meals out. The PDF that was sent via the owner prior to our visit was very useful and we followed the recommendations on there and were not disappointed. We all had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for private and spacious accommodation for a family holiday. We will be back for another visit in the future.

Thanks for your lovely feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Martin and Gemma Property Owner

Fantastic location and the cottage was very homely and well equipped. The garden was perfect for the dogs and the conservatory was a fantastic space to sit and eat with a view. The welcome treats and the fire being ready to go was very appreciated. Was also great to have the utility for shoes and feed the dogs etc. All bedrooms were comfy and well equipped along with the bathrooms. Home from home would highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • "We had a full week at Buarthau for our sons 30th and enjoyed the space and facilities available."

Large well equipped kitchen with the conservatory for dining. Plenty of room for the 4 of us and our 2 dogs. The secure garden and paddock was great for the dogs. The owners have obviously put a lot of time and effort into the property, log burner and games room for kids (giant Jenga for the grown up kids lol). They also provided a welcome pack, big box of chocolates, milk, good supply of tea and coffee and Welsh cakes. Dishwasher tablets and washing machine detergent was also provided. The tumble drier was welcome as we were rain soaked pretty much every day. Despite the weather we had a terrific week in Snowdonia with the added bonus of staying at a great house. Full marks from us. Many thanks from all 4 of us

  • "Thank you so much for our stay."

Martin was amazing and kind (this is important to me and I know would be for those in similar boat- I come from a minority group and host made us feel comfortable). Martin even accommodated my request to set up wood fire (I am a noob at that kind of stuff!). We are a family of 6 and found the cottage very spacious. Even had a chance to see sheeps in the neighbour's field. Location was perfect for us i.e. close to Snowdonia and not too far from Llandudno. We now have treasured memories. The cottage pictures are very accurate. The log burner even more beautiful in person. We were greeted with welcome cookies. The kitchen amenities were excellent (tea, coffee etc. even bread and milk!), Including crockery and cookware. The only thing I would suggest is updating the non stick pan/guests to bring own (only troublesome when frying an egg really, so not deal breaker!). To address a review from before yes- bathroom in ensuite isn't heated buut my advise to guest is to leave bathroom door open when not in use to balance temperature :). Hope this was helpful to future guests! Please don't hesitate, it was lovely stay for us (my little one in particular enjoyed play room!)

  • "Lovely cottage and plenty of equipment although we were missing a colander and kitchen scales."

Also a couple more dinner plates would have been useful and extra cutlery for serving requirements. My husband and I are in our late 70's so we chose the downstairs bedroom with en-siute bathroom. There wasn't any heating in this lovely bathroom and it was freezing cold. So cold it was unbearable and unpleasant to use in the cold months. It never dried out unless the window was left open ( who wants that in an already freezing bathroom ? ) The toilet rolls were always damp and towels that were left in there overnight were damp an cold. The door into disabled bathroom didn't shut so therefor couldn't lock it. Apart from the master bedroom upstairs, there was a shortage of draws for clothes. The pillows on the beds were so thin they need replacing, two pillows together only made the thickness of one. There wasn't a mirror near a plug for hairdryer. The oven door didn't close unless it was slammed shut and we noticed that this had been mentioned last June in the visitor's book. Last of all, the description of the cottage isn't very clear that all bathrooms and toilets are downstairs. We wouldn't have booked this property if it had been made clear. These are all small niggles that are mentioned as constructive criticism can spoil a holiday and be put right quickly to make the guests holiday more enjoyable.

Hi Barbara Thanks for your constructive comments during your stay at Buarthau. Apologies for the late reply. My aim is to close these comments out as best as I can. As you can imagine all trades men are busy during these times. We have now installed a towel rail in the bathroom so the place is nice and warm during winter months. New pillows have bought. Issue with the cooker door has been solved . Thanks again for your stay Regards Martin / Gemma :) Property Owner

  • "This was a great property for our family holiday."

My only issue was we had my disabled father with us and although it says bedrooms on ground floor, the sales assistant didn't mention it was up 2 steps. He managed it so didn't spoil anything for us, it's just for other holiday goers to be aware of. Kids loved it, it's near a very long beach which the dogs loved and everyone we went we were only ones there! Highly recommend it as it made a fab base for our group of 8, our holiday was also made special as my sister's boyfriend proposed while we were there, so you never know a rebook maybe on the cards for future celebrations!

The holiday cottage is perfectly placed to explore Snowdonia NP. We loved the garden that backs onto the surrounding fields and over looks the mountain ranges, perfect for evening meals outside. The kids loved the playroom, the football goals and spend hours on the scooters on the large driveway. A holiday I will remember for a longtime made even better with the heatwave!

  • "We were 4 adults and a dog staying at Buarthau and it was absolutely fabulous."

The property had everything we needed and was in the perfect location - just a stones throw away from Llanberis and Caernarfon, and just a little further to Anglesey and Beddgelert. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the garden is situated in such a way that you get the sun pretty much all day, with a stunning view of the sunset and plenty of garden furniture to pick from. I thought the property was beautifully decorated, with a lovely big cool (temperature wise) living room, and a spacious kitchen. The garden is secure, which means the dog could just roam around as she pleased, which she really appreciated. The paddock was also perfect for the dog and big enough to throw a ball around. The conservatory/dining area was the main reason I booked this property, and was the perfect setting for our evening meals. I really could go on, but essentially we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

About the location

LLANRUG

Llanberis 2 miles; Caernarfon 4 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
