  • "The cottage is fantastic in terms of cleanliness and comfort."

We did notice a few ants appear in the kitchen from time to time but nothing too bad. Very well equipped in all rooms, especially in the kitchen, however probably too many pans/utensils/glasses which don’t leave much cupboard space for a family of 4 who bring their own food! The cottage is also located on a very busy main road which wasn’t mentioned in the description so it’s not really accessible in terms of taking the kids or the dog out for a walk (due to their being no pavement). The cars going past also don’t adhere to the 40mph limit! A large field is at the back of the property but due to a Private Land sign further up the road, we weren’t sure if this was accessible to us or not? I’d say this property is more suited to a couple or a family with a baby/toddler.

  • "Had a lovely stay in this cosy little cottage which had everything I needed for the short stay."

My only gripe was the busy road the cottage is on which was very noisy and not mentioned in the let details

The Christmas tree and decorations were a perfect touch, thank you so much! The garden was secure for my dogs, great to have parking right next to the house and the location was excellent for us, very easy to access the places we love to visit.

  • "Firstly the cottage was done to a high standard there had been thought throughout when it had been done."

.. loved our stay but the only thing that let it down was the cleanliness... we did not expect to have to clean the bathroom floor, toilet and around the bath... The kitchen floor also had to be cleaned and the microwave had left over remains of curry inside so as you can imagine the smell was not too great that met us... Cobwebs were seen around the house too and the entrance porch we had to sweep that too... Such a shame especially in these times of the pandemic and also the fact that we could not get in until 5 so that deep cleaning can be done. Incase we felt we left the cottage cleaner than we found. So disappointing but the stay and the location and the ease around the island we found was exceptional...

We are sorry to hear the condition of the property did not meet your expectations and that we have discussed the issues with the cleaner, we are disappointed that you encountered this, as we wish our guests to love our home as much as we do. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful holiday home, In the paradise of Anglesey."

Very central for all of the beaches and attractions. Anglesey is a hidden gem. Maybe the outdoor patio area could do with an upgrade. The cutlery could have been more thoroughly washed. And more towels put out, which the owner kindly gave us! Would love to go back to Anglesey

  • "What a wonderful cottage the owners have thought of everything."

Very comfortable beautifully furnished and a great location to explore Anglesey. One of the best cottages we’ve stayed in. The owners have gone above and beyond with facilities. The cottage was very clean apart from cobwebs also mentioned by previous guests. There is only a small fridge so we had to shop daily for fresh food but the shops are not far away. The cottage is on a busy road with some motorists exceeding the speed limit so you would need to supervise children and dogs in the rear garden. Unlike most cottages there was no welcome tray with milk so you would need supplies for the first evening but again this wasn’t a deal breaker. We would definitely recommend this cottage and we would most definitely stay again. Thank you, the owners should be very proud of their holiday home

  • "Nice touch of leaving coffee tea etc and logs for the fire."

Both beds where very comfortable and warm. Lots of seating and throws for cold evenings Disappointed that half a toilet roll was left only! House is on a 40mph road but some boy racers about doing more like 80mph so need to be very careful with dogs or children as no front gates at all.

  • "Although the cottage was lovely, modern and had everything we needed for a two day stay, we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage."

There was lots of cobwebs on the walls and ceiling, we had to hoover the sofa as it was covered in bits, dead flys and daddy long legs in the window. All plates and utensils needed to be cleaned before use. Bath and sink had to be cleaned before use. There was lots of fly’s flying around on arrival. We understand that we are in difficult times with Covid-19 but felt we shouldn’t have to strip the beds and sort dirty washing such as towel, empty bins and expect to be out by 10.00am, considering this isn’t a cheap property to rent.

We are glad you liked the refurbishment of 2 Tan Rhiw, with it being a country cottage it can be difficult keeping it free of all the associated wee wildlife, We have had a chat with the housekeeping team in regards to the other points you mentioned. All the literature sent out to you before you booking should have explained the need to strip the beds and empty the bins as the health and security of our housekeepers is as important to us as the guests is. • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Tan Rhiw."

The cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The location was great as it was 10 minutes from the Menai Bridge so you can get into Snowdonia very quickly as well as being fairly central to get everywhere in Anglesey. You can't really walk to a pub or shop but that didn't bother us at all. We'd highly recommend the cottage to anyone thinking of a holiday in Anglesey

  • "Great location and fab views."

Please make sure if you have any pets that the side gate is secure as the road in front of the house can get busy. Traffic travels goes pass the house at fast speeds even though it's a 40 mph limit. Struggled getting the hob working the first day but after a few runs got it working no problems. Lovely house, well decorated and spacious with ample entertainment should the weather close in. Look forward to going again.

  • "First of all, the location of the property was exactly what we needed."

We knew that a bit of driving would be involved but we also used taxis too. The cottage itself is beautiful. The layout of the property is fantastic and would have easily housed another 2 people (there was 3 of us on this visit). Each room was spotless and the kitchen and dining room had everything we needed for every meal (including the all important wine glasses!) The cottage was lovely and warm and the beds were really comfortable. The surrounding areas were great to visit, especially Beaumaris. The cottage had lots and lots of information about things to do and see, we found this really helpful. Overall, we loved our stay at 2 Tan Rhiw and would certainly recommend a visit. We look forward to staying again sometime in the near future.

  • "This was a brilliant place, very well designed and organised."

Great facilities within the cottage, really enjoyed the fire place during those two weeks in November. Only one point, the kitchen needs an extractor above the hobs to avoid the build up of steam while cooking. Otherwise, it was perfect.

About the location

LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLL

Menai Bridge 2 miles; Beaumaris 6 miles.

Affectionately known by the locals as Llanfair PG, the Anglesey village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrnd robwllllantysiliogogogoch, also known by its shortened name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll has the longest place name in Europe. It was artificially named back in 1860 as a publicity stunt for the railway station and translates from Welsh as "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Situated close to the Menai Straits, just off the Britannia Bridge, Llanfair PG has much to offer families. After having your photo taken next to the village nameplate at the railway station, head into the popular visitors centre for local tourist information. A short walk past the octagonal Toll House, towards Menai Bridge, will bring you to the Marquis of Anglesey statue and column which, for a small fee, you can climb the 115 steps to the top for superb views of the countryside and coastline. Nelson’s Monument can be easily reached on the banks of the Menai Straits, passing St Mary’s Church on the way. With several good pubs with restaurants, craft and gift shops and cafes, plus the beautiful Anglesey coastline within walking distance, there is plenty to entertain you all year round.
