  • "We stayed in lodge 108 (31st August - 4th Sept 2026) overlooking the dam."

Out of the 4 rooms we did not use one bedroom at all as there were flies on the window and the curtains did not close. The lodge has great potential but needs a good overall. Cleanliness was lacking with insects and flies on floor and corners or rooms. Bathrooms were ok but floor and ceiling had had leaks and therefore needed attention. For example the vinal was uneven and the ceiling above shower had water marks. Beds were not comfortable (old sagging mattress) and furniture was mismatched and just put in the room. Kitchen has no basic supply of tea / coffee/ sugar/ salt / pepper - and only 1 dishwasher tablet. Oven and microwave was not cleaned after last guest left. Duvet covers were torn. Reception staff were quite abrupt and rude. Reception is only manned from 9 - 5 outside of these hours if you call the number, on the only key given, a general team takes your message and passes this to the reception the following day and no action was taken by the Piperdam team. Hot tub was checked daily but the team left a massive brick (which was used to stop the cover flying off I guess) on the final step leading to the tub so impossible to get in and out safely. Also, the cover did not fit so we did not use the hot tub. Reception is meant to give a good first impression – this was not the case. It was old shabby carpets and rude staff, who would refuse to check you in until exactly 4pm and even then you have to form a queue to be checked in having travelled 8 hours to get there. When you check in they give you a single set of keys with an excuse that people leave with the keys and do not return them. Which is a worry and a surprise. The dining area is not inviting at all and very few people were seen eating there. I certainly would not go back there until Away Resorts refurbish the lodges and give training to reception staff and kit the lodges better and improve the reception area.
