“We have just returned from a lovely peaceful week at Heatherbank.”

This beautiful cottage, set in a tranquil position, had everything we could wish for, we even had the company of four deer on more than one occasion. A more than generous welcome pack was very much appreciated. There was an excellent array of information offering ideas for things to do and places to visit as well as a huge selection of cd's, dvd's and books. Loch Lomond and the Trossocks National Park was only a short drive away and well worth a visit as the scenery was absolutely ...

About the location

GARELOCHHEAD

Helensburgh 7 miles; Loch Lomond 11 miles; Glasgow 30 miles.

The village of Garelochhead developed as a tourist resort with the steamer sailings from Glasgow from the 1820s, and then further with the arrival of the West Highland Line to Fort William. Sitting at the head of the Gare Loch, a sea loch running into the River Clyde at its southern end, the village offers a selection of pubs and shops. The loch itself is ideal for sailing and sea angling and is home to Faslane Naval Base and its associated peace camp. Surrounding the village are many Munros (mountains over 3000ft) and the surrounding hillsides are popular with walkers throughout the year. With Loch Lomond only a short drive away, with its beautiful scenery and renowned golf courses, Garelochhead is an ideal base to explore this dramatic and scenic part of the country.
