We have stayed here in these cottages several times now. We keep coming back so we must enjoy it and the cottage must be good! Looking forward to coming back soon.

  • "The internet is very poor - this should be explained in advance."

Items that we asked for we not provided and absence of mobile signal at the cottage meant it was not possible to make contact. The double bed is very firm and uncomfortable. Cleaning is patchy.

The Internet at the cottages is adequate for most day-to-day tasks, I am also trialling a network that is faster than the BT connection I have at present, and unfortunately not all areas are covered by superfast broadband, especially the more rural areas. I explained on the phone before you arrived, where you could make and receive a phone signal from the cottage. The Cot and High chair you requested was provided! I have no record of anything else been asked for. The mattress is good quality, and it also has a two layer thick mattress topper which makes for a comfortable bed. Thank you for your comments. The view from the lounge is breath taking and to be there in warmer times must be great in order to make use of the garden furniture - unfortunately we visited in November! We may return in the spring of next year.

  • "The cottage is in an excellent location and is equipped well enough."

The only issue we had was that we found the bed uncomfortable. The living room with the log fire is nice and cosy on the colder evenings. The views are very relaxing and when you get a sunset, its very picturesque. I would recommend staying here.

..however, it does have many wonderful facilities such as the wood burning stove which makes the lounge very cosy. The location was amazing & it was an easy drive from the ferry terminal.

  • "The view from the front of the cottage is fantastic."

Picnic table and seats on the lawn. Everything we needed was there. Bob didn't like the look of the big stainless steel chimney thing leading from the wood burning stove up through the ceiling. He thought it was a bit ugly. We didn't need to use the stove as the underfloor heating was highly efficient - too warm at times but we didn't alter the controls, just opened a door! Plenty of storage in the bedrooms. We hope to return to this property on our favourite island.

About the location

Tobermory 9 miles; Lochdon 12.5 miles; Ardalanish 41.5 miles.

On the Isle of Mull, the picturesque village of Salen is halfway between the main ferry terminal of Craignure and the island's capital, Tobermory. Salen boasts two hotels, an Italian restaurant and a coffee shop and hosts an agricultural show each summer. In and around Salen you can enjoy mountain biking, pony trekking, walking and bird watching. Salen is the ideal base for exploring this inner Hebridean island, whose highlights include the dramatic scenery of the Gribun rocks on the west coast, the delightful expanse of Calgary Bay and its beach and, of course, Tobermory, most recently used as the setting for the popular BBC children's series 'Balamory'. Tobermory is the main town on the island with a choice of restaurants and shops, a whisky distillery and chocolate factory - all well worth a visit.
