  • "Lovely well furnished and comfortable cottage in a rural quiet area."

Great communications with the owner when had an issue with the hot tub. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quiet retreat in the countryside yet only minutes drive to a beach.

  • "We had a lovely restful stay at Cherry Tree Cottage and were very happy with the accommodation."

The beds were very comfy, the whole house was immaculately clean and welcoming. The kitchen was great - very well equipped, good sized pots and pans and a cafetiere. The directions took us straight to the house despite the leafy windy roads and little turnings that are so easy to miss. A very convenient base for travelling all over the Rhins, but especially for the South Rhins which was where we were concentrating our outings this time. The company of the many dairy cows on the hills around us was extremely soothing, and we enjoyed seeing them all come and go from the milking parlour every day. The wonderful 360 degree views from the house were a real bonus, and made our mornings and evenings a time to just watch the sky. We were very lucky with the weather, and used the patio every day. Altogether a great stay and would certainly go back if we return to this area

  • "We found Cherry Tree Cottage to be very comfortable and well appointed, the décor was lovely and all fittings were of a high spec."

We enjoyed the comfy beds / bedding and the accommodation was very spacious. It was great being able to take our small pet / dog Katie with us. There was also plenty of TV entertainment i.e. internet, You Tube, Netflixs, with a great soundbar and sub woofer creating a hi fidelity sound. Overall we spent a great week at Cherry Tree Cottage and would certainly return for another stay. The owner, Richard supplied us with very helpful directions which was much appreciated and made our journey arrival go smoothly. Would highly recommend Cherry Tree Cottage for a relaxing stay. • "On arrival at cottage we found bath filled with dirty towels and bedding, floors had not been swept, dishwasher was full of washed plates etc,the hot tub had not been drained and water was cloudy and filthy."

I contacted Richard the owner he promised that someone would be round soon to get cottage cleaned.sure enough girl appeared and brought fresh towels and linen she gave bathrooms a quick once over and made up beds.made appointment to come back next day and Finnish the cleaning.we took a photo of a pile of hairs and oose which if our wee dog had have swollen would have chocked the wee fella.we are most disappointed in this aspect of cleanliness considering what we paid for this property.i sent Richard an email regarding a part refund for one less time in the hot tub but heard nothing back.i hope this helps whoever plans to book this lovely cottage in the future it's a shame because the cottage itself was amazing.regards Alex sneddon

  • "Pros Nice and spacious, lots of natural light and very comfy sofas and general vibe."

Good location, nice and peaceful but not too far from (15-20 mins to a big shop) amenities and a good middle ground between all the nearby attractions. Lovely Patio however due to weather we couldn't take advantage of it. Cons There were a bunch of flies when we first arrived and we did have to swat quite a few to get rid of them. Plug sockets were behind beds would be nice to have some at bedside table level. Was some construction going at the time. Overall Very peaceful apartment, perfect for families, no glaring issues. Would definitely recommend for visiting Portpatrick.

  • "Wow , what a beautiful bungalow, bright airy and in a wonderful location, with lovely outdoor space ."

Bed was very comfortable and good quality linen. Only downside on arrival no housekeeping has been done , no beds changed and dirty towels left in shower , a quick message and phone call to Richard and hour later 3 lovely ladies arrived to clean , on leaving one of the ladies said she would drop off some vouchers for the inconvenience needless to say they never arrived, poor customer service. Reading a review from May someone said the shower in both bathrooms were leaking , I had hoped this would have been sorted....it hadn't every time the shower was used the floor was like a swimming pool, such a shame as the flooring is gorgeous.Lovely pub in the village and the beach there is fabulous our springer spaniel loved it such a shame weather wasn't on our side . Please remember this lovely property is surrounded by fields with cows and sheep in them when it's sunny and doors are open you need fly spray and lots of it as you are bombarded with them . The hot tub was great to use only problem again was the wet weather and I think a couple of the jets have stopped working.

Even went in the hot tub looking at the view you could even see the Isle Of Man . It was nice to see deer & hares out of the window . Because there isn't any light pollution you could see 1000s of stars . Overall a great holiday

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday and managed to get use of the hot tub. I agree that it is a great place for star gazing, as you say with no light pollution and you get to realise just how many stars there are up there. Richard Property Owner

The patio of the cottage has two areas one dining and the other less formal lounge seating. The only down side was we didn’t book for two weeks, would certainly recommend booking early for next year, we’d gladly go back for longer

Hi Anna, I am sorry you were dissatisfied with your stay at Cherry Tree Cottage; however, the facts are that at the time of booking the listing didn’t state that there was a hot tub available although there may have been one visible in one of the photos. I also emailed you to explain that although there is a hot tub that this hadn’t yet been commissioned and would not be available. As a responsible holiday let owner, I have a duty of care towards my guests, and this includes abiding by the standards set out in the HSE HSG282 guidance “The control of legionella and other infectious agents in spa-pool systems” which states that the PH and sanitisation levels must be checked twice daily. At the time of your stay, I hadn’t yet fully commissioned the automatic system for monitoring Ph levels and the level of sanitisation of the water therefore couldn’t possibly let you use it and put your safety and comfort at risk. I would much rather be marked down due to a guest’s misapprehension of what was available than to be the cause of a guest contracting an illness due to an incorrectly sanitized hot tub. As a side note the listing states only one dog can be accommodated, however, I was happy for you to bring two dogs at no extra cost. As an offer of good will if you were ever to want to stay again in the future I would be happy offer you a 15% discount, use of hot tub included! Property Owner
