Very warm and comfortable cottage. Nice touch having welcome pack and liked secure garden area for our dog. Gorgeous area for walks. The local pub is one of best we've been in. Good food and so cosy. Only up road from cottage so very handy. The sea front is lovely in Garlieston and just up road too. Bonny place.

However the images for this property need updating as they are not a true reflection of what it is like. Although the bed was comfortable the bedding had seen better days and the pillows were dreadful. Underneath the sofas need a deep clean. We dropped something and went to retrieve it only to discover lots of dust and hair underneath them. Sorry but very disappointing generally. If you do sit out in the garden the view is basically the owners yard full of stuff, which folk need to be aware of.

Thank you very much for your feed back as for the photos of this property Sykes have been asked on numerous occasions to come and update them and they have failed to do so for under the sofas I can only apologise and will make sure this issue doesn’t happen again for the issue of the owners yard it states on the site that this property is an annex I can only apologies if this was an issue with things being about and will try and improve this issue aswell Property Owner

  • "It was not stated that the accommodation was attached to owners home."

I wouldn't have booked had I known this (only a door in the kitchen with a freezer in front of it separated homes). Don't recycle. No wardrobe, only a hall cupboard with a rack for clothes so we lived out of cases for the week. Cooker dials worn so couldn't tell what was what and no instructions. No books or dvds as stated in description. I would rate as a 2 star. Positives were garden and welcome pack.

As stated in the description of our cottage it states that it is an annex (an annex is a home attached onto another home) The kitchen door is not the only thing that seperates our houses; behind the kitchen door, there are sound proof walls which make these two houses seperate. As stated by my husband on the phone, we do not recycyle at our property but we're told that there are recycling facilities down the lane at the bottom hall which you would see when out for a walk. There are pictures of our property on the Sykes website so you can see there that there is no wardrobe in the bedroom so you can make an informed decision before you book. I agree with your comment about the cooker dials and this will be sorted for future guests. We had to remove all books and DVDs due to Covid and following Sykes guidelines and we haven't had the go ahead to put these back in as you cannot sanitise books. I'm sorry you didnt enjoy your stay here. I would have much rather you had told us about the problems you had rather than put it on through Sykes. This is your personal opinion. I am fully booked until October and most of these bookings are people returning for maybe the 3rd or 4th time. We cannot please everyone but following the feedback from yourselves, I have managed to place a wardrobe in the bedroom. Hopefully this will be OK and there will be enough room in the bedroom. I always do my best to act on any feedback received, no matter how small. Again I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay here but wish you well in the furture. Regards, Kelly Property Owner

Small shop with essentials close to village, nearest supermarket in Newton Stewart. Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and made very welcome by the locals. Fish and chip van calls in the village on Friday evenings and they are very good. Negative: Despite the fact that the time of arrival had been moved to 4pm because of Covid safe preparation the cottage did not meet my expectations of cleanliness. No wardrobe in the cottage so had to use the clothes airer to hang our clothes. About the location

GARLIESTON

Wigtown 8 miles; Newton Stewart 14 miles.

Garlieston is a small coastal village that nestles on the Machars Peninsula, looking out over Wigtown Bay. It was popular as a fishing and cargo harbour until the 20th century, partly due to the extension of the Wigtownshire Railway. Worth noting is the part played by Garlieston in the development and testing of the Mulberry harbours that were deployed during the D-Day Landings. Today, the harbour provides berthing for leisure and fishing craft and offers a shop and Post Office as well as a traditional inn serving wholesome meals. The gardens of nearby Galloway House date from 1740 and offer a superb network of walks through magical woodland that lead towards the sweeping shoreline. Just north of Garlieston is Wigtown, once a thriving port, and now Scotland’s National Book Town. Apart from the attractive scenery and the varied coastline, the Machars Peninsular offers pretty towns such as Port William, still a working harbour, and Monreith, which was the home of writer Gavin Maxwell and offers a delightful, sandy beach.
