"We loved our stay at Otter's Holt."
The cottage was bright and clean, the conservatory and garden were delightful and Kirkcolm is a lovely peaceful village. We were touched at the welcome package - the croissants were especially welcome - and delicious. The beds were very comfortable. A footstool in the sitting room would be welcome....but that is just a personal wish!! So much to do nearby, no need to spend hours on the road. Definitely one to repeat . Great holiday, and the weather turned out beautifully for us. A bonus.
So glad you enjoyed your stay and the exploring. Thank you for feeding back. Hope you are back in this region soon

"Thank you for the welcome pack of goodies it was a nice surprise after a long drive and much appreciated."
The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. A lot of thought had been put into making it feel welcoming and homely. The cottage was much bigger than we expected and had a good stock of books and games. The beds were lovely and comfortable rooms nice and warm.
The conservatory was nice and overlooked the garden, but the dog next door kept jumping over the wall. Although friendly enough he kept doing his business on the lawn.
Unfortunately for us the lack of comfortable sofas spoilt our stay. There are 3 small 2 seater sofas something you would expect to see in waiting room. 1 sofa was child like size, and a rocker type chair.
It’s nice to be able to sit back and relax in the evening especially when the evenings are pulling in and the weather changes. However sitting on these sofas for any length of time was something we just wasn’t able to do without being extremely uncomfortable. In fact after 3 days of our 7 day holiday we decided to check out.
thank you for your feed back, such a shame that you felt the need to cut short your stay, when there are so many places to explore in the area. Hopefully we will be able to replace one of the sofas in the future, although we are constrained by the width of the front door as to what comes through it. Thank you again

"It's a really lovely house with everything we needed (we were 4 adults)."
A deceptively spacious house with really good-sized rooms. There were lots of seating facilities - couches, dining table, kitchen island with bar stools and private patio area in back garden. The garden is lovely - very pretty, lots of plants, shrubs and a lawn. The house was very clean and very well-equipped. The house was warm - day and night - and we didn't need to use the heating. There was nothing we lacked for our comfort. We were able to park directly outside the house. The local people were friendly, there were walks and a beach very close by. There are lots of attractions a short drive away. It's in a beautiful location within a stunning region. No complaints at all! We were sorry to have to leave. Thanks for the thoughtful welcome pack.
Thank you for such a lovely feed back, so glad you enjoyed the area, there's always lots to explore. Hope you will be back soon

"We had a lovely time."
The house was spotless. There was a handy welcome pack and a lovely note from the owner. The people of the village were welcoming and also gave us a trip to the planetarium in Kirkcudbright.
We would love to come back
You will be very welcome

"We had a most relaxing holiday."
The home is very welcoming, clean and comfortable. The weather was good and there were some lovely walks nearby. The home is very well equipped with everything you would need. The little welcome pack was most appreciated.
There is a bus stop directly outside that takes you into Stranraer. There is also a little pub/restaurant across the street that serves plain good old fashioned food, but be warned to wear elastic trousers as the portion sizes are amazing.
The only negative thing I would say is that there is no shop whatsoever.
Other than that we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend if you want to get away from it all.
Thank you for your positive feedback, there used to be a small shop/post office, but unfortunately, like many small villages it had to close. The nearest small shop is just a ten minute drive away. Glad you enjoyed your stay

"The picture of the garden on the particulars does not show that there is a small pond in the middle of the garden which A) is dangerous for toddlers B) dogs find the water very attractive especially on hot days Two window locks in the conservatory are broken and need replacing The patio door cannot be opened or closed easily."
It is so stiff it needs to be sorted Window in kitchen does not open Apart from that the property is bright and clean and pleasant. The beach is about a miles walk away not as convenient as proposed in the literature. Pub only open Thursday to Sunday and only does very basic food between certain times.

"Wonderful holiday at Otter's Holt from start to finish."
welcomed with a lovely note, flowers and food from Emma, beds were spotless clean and comfortable and the garden is safe and secure for dog. The wonderful weather we had added to the great location, and the accommodation at Otter's Holt provided us with a great holiday, one of the best we have had. We will defo be back.
Thank you so much for your lovely review I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and we can't wait to have you back!
We hope the dog enjoyed it too!

"Location: it should be made clear that the only pub, albeit just across the street, is only open Thu - Sun."
Saying that, we had a lovely meal there on Thu, albeit from a very basic menu - but fine for us. And, our dog was welcome.
The problem with the cottage: a dreadfully unkempt back garden we found unusable, and our dog had to be very closely supervised due to a dreadfully overgrown part at the back where it would otherwise be impossible to clean up any mess. Our dog was also dreadfully intimidated by a neigbour’s dog jumping into the garden that would not leave him alone. I felt intimated too by barking from neighbouring dogs almost every time I opened the door! The cottage opens straight onto a main road: a thoroughfare for farming vehicles; and they do not drive slowly through.
Sorry to ‘moan’ but neither were we impressed with the lack of a couch in the lounge; the furniture is really of an old, conservatory type. The house itself is roomy though and fairly well equipped. Thank you again for the little gifts: milk, butter, etc. that were much appreciated with the nearest shop amount 3 - 4 miles away.
Hi Ann,
I'm glad you enjoyed parts of your stay, thank you for your feedback on the garden and we'll get the gardener in to have a look at the back .
I apologise but there is nothing we can do about the location of the property, the local pub or the neighbour's dog although we will have further fencing put in to deter next doors dog. The majority of the furniture is new and we do have 3 sofas in the living room, but I understand we all have different tastes.
I'm glad you enjoyed the gifts and thank you for your feedback.
Otters Holt.
