It was very warm and cosy, despite it being freezing cold outside. Oakham and Stamford are both very nice. Have a look at Sir Jeffery Hudson`s cottage in Oakham. The Tom Thumb books were thought to be based on Jeffery, well worth seeing. The village pub is also very good. I would love to make a return visit.

....thankyou for all the added extra's you left, a real treat. Vine Cottage was warm, cosy, very clean and welcoming. Hot water on tap!, rooms light and airy, good quality bed linen and some very lovely finishing touches decoratively. Also lots of books, games and pamphlets etc with information about the local area and further afield. Whissendine is the perfect location to visit many areas of interest whether in a town or the countryside, we certainly packed plenty in......Burghley Christmas Fair was one of our favourites. Thankyou so much and best wishes for Christmas and 2024. countryside

For us it was ideal. It was very well equipped with all that we could possibly need. The quality of the furnishings, linen etc was all first class. It was warm and the heating was fully controllable. We slept very well. The welcome pack was exceptional. We have stayed at scores of cottages in the past few years and there are very few that we would look forward to returning to as much as to this one. FIRST RATE

Great village pub. Lots of historic and interesting places to visit nearby. Oakham has a superb museum. The Great Hall with all its horseshoes is also well worth visiting. The house was lovely and the owners thought of every little thing that would make one’s stay enjoyable. They could write a guide for other holiday cottages. When I arrived there was a whole host of goodies on the kitchen table to welcome me. Such a lovely thought. Everything was in perfect working order and so clean and tidy. I needed parking and there was a place on the street right at the front door. Even when I went out, when I returned there was my space waiting for me. I’m in Spain at the moment and am hoping Vine cottage will be available when I return Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
