Extremely spacious, including the fourth bedroom which although small was more than adequate. The master bedroom is amazing! Good communication from the owner who is nearby, very helpful, but not at all intrusive. Lovely setting, surrounded by fields.

Very comfortable property, with all necessary facilities, log burner, dishwasher and well equipped kitchen. Very peaceful and great for super local pub ( Blissland Arms), excellent local shop with friendly service. Great walking from the cottage door.

  • "The property reflected the price paid."

We would not recommend it for the “high” season because the facilities do not match the price that would be paid then. The single bedroom should be a shower room for the use of the double bedroom at that end of the house. The owners were very nice and helpful.

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased to hear the owners of Higher Tumrose provided a warm welcome. This particular property has a strong history of repeat bookers and positive feedback - we are sorry to hear you wont be returning for a summer stay. Property Owner

to be able to walk around the back of the property through the owners private paddocks and be on Bodmin Moor in ten minutes was a real joy, just such a beautiful area and the walks were amazing. after a long walk with the dogs to get back light up the woodburner and have something nice cooking in the well stocked kitchen with a glass of red (or two). the perfect place to unwind and relax. • "Property is well placed for visiting the east and west coasts."

Short walk to the village and pub does great food with plenty of outside seating. While the property is large with great sized rooms, apart from the bathrooms it needs some TLC and a good clean. Dirty windows, dust on the back of doors and towel rails, dirty sockets in the kitchen and doors need a good clean. I wouldn’t touch the drier and oven! This is the first property we have stayed in where we have felt uncomfortable with the cleanliness.

Thank you for your feedback. I have spoken to the owner regarding the cleanliness issues who will speak to the housekeeper. We have never had any issues of this nature before and there is a regular window cleaner. We are sorry that this impacted your stay on this occasion. Property Owner

  • "What a fantastic place to stay - extremely well equipped, nothing has been forgotten."

Higher Tumrose is a comfortably furnished home with quality furniture, some very lovely pieces and book cases to rival a library. The whole place was spotless and all topped off with views to die for plus we had super weather too. Our dogs loved the immaculate garden but one did take a leap of faith and had a fabulous time in the field opposite ;) ! A 10 minute stroll downhill brings you to the prettiest village around which has a shop and a welcoming pub serving very very generous portions of good food and an excellent selection of local ales. We will be back, and can only presume that the previous negative reviewer was staying at a different accommodation.

  • "Higher Tumrose is a beautiful cottage set in a very rural location."

Everything we needed was provided. The view is gorgeous with the added antics of the small flock of sheep. Our dog enjoyed sunbathing in the garden or warming herself in the sun room. Beds were comfortable. We particularly loved our master suite. The village has a very welcoming pub with a small restaurant. The portion sizes were enormous! There is also a small but well stocked community shop. One of the houses nearby sells homemade jams and preserves and a couple of houses sell fresh eggs. A perfect place for our Cornish escape. Our only regret? That we didn’t book two weeks. Never mind, I’m sure we’ll be back soon!

The only downside was it could have been cleaner as there was dust in places and cobwebs around.. the shower in the en-suite was not very good as it was slow, apart from those 2 things it is a very enjoyable cottage set in an amazing part of the countryside

We are glad that overall your holiday was wonderful. We are very sorry that you had a problem with cleanliness on this occasion. We have spoken with the owner who is liaising with her cleaner to ensure that there are no further issues in this regard. Historically the property has had a very good cleanliness rating so we are sorry that it fell short for you on this occasion. Glad that you had a great holiday. Property Owner

  • "The property exceeded our expectations."

The house is all on one level & was amazing & plenty of room for 7 with 4 very good size bedrooms. This is a large property with plenty of space to all be together or have some time away to yourself if desired. Both of the showers were great, especially the main bathroom with the overhead large shower head. The main bathroom has a large bath with central taps too. The conservatory is much bigger than in pics & looks out on to views. The kitchen & main bedroom has the same views at the front of the property. The owners Sheila & Kim were lovely & there was milk & cookies awaiting us on arrival. My mother uses a wheelchair & so the front of the property access is not possible (but I wasn't aware of that from the Sykes site until I read the reviews), However, on reading the reviews I phoned the owner & she was extremely helpful & said there was access around the back of the property over the grass & we did not find this a problem at all, there is just a very slight bank & you can park car at the back access as well. (at the front there is also an old way in which is just 4 steps in between fir trees but this is not currently used but could be possibly in the future if the owners wanted to open up property for the disabled & put a lift in there). There is another review on here about slippy steps to the front of the property but these are made of granite & were not slippy in the slightest & not sure if granite can get slippy - I didn't think so, but all was good with both existing access ways to the property. The property views exceeded expectations & were amazing. Such a peaceful place with stunning views. There is everything you could possibly need at the property, very well equipped kitchen, hairdryer, iron, ironning board, laundry basket, washing line, pegs, bbq, even found a bucket & spade! in porch

The owners were very kind with arrangements for my 90 year old mother. Really beautiful views, very quiet and Blisland is a very friendly village. On a sunny day in December the sunroom was a really warm and a lovely place to sit. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything needed including another beautiful view. The heating system and wood burner were excellent although the double bedroom next to the living room could be cold at night. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and very well equipped. A beautiful setting on a nice farm. Wonderful, thank you!

  • "Very peaceful place with lovely views and just a short walk to a pretty village and up onto Bodmin Moor."

Higher Tumrose is a very cozy, but spacious bungalow. The large lounge has the best wood burning stove I’ve ever used - so easy to light. There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen. Everything worked although the appliances are a bit elderly (the microwave is small). The beds were very comfortable too. The downside; the main bathroom shower was little more than a dribble which meant queuing for the electric en-suite one. There are ten steps up to the front door and the paving is slippery when wet. Only a problem if you book the property, like us, with an elderly parent in mind. Bizarrely the sun lounge was a fly graveyard! This aside, Higher Tumrose was a great place to stay for exploring North Cornwall. We loved the pub too - great beer and really friendly.

About the location

BLISLAND

Bodmin 5.7 miles; Wadebridge 8.4 miles; Polzeath 13.2 miles; Tintagel 13.8 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Fowey 17.2 miles.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn. The village is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. You can even explore the trail on horseback and a purpose-built hide has been constructed between Wadebridge and Padstow, so even birdwatchers are catered for! Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline. A fabulous part of the country for all!
