  • "Beautiful cottage in a quiet area of the town."

Facilities within the cottage were ideal and it was a pleasure to return there each evening and sit by the fire with stormy weather outside. Bodmin, St Austell, Liskeard and Fowey are all within 10 - 15 minutes drive. Ideal base for exploring. Parking is a bit of an issue, however there is ample space in the free public car park off the main road and also on the hill around the corner. Would definitely recommend Willow Cottage.

  • "We have stayed at Willow Cottage earlier this year so this was our second visit and found it to be an equally enjoyable experience!"

Relying on public transport, having both the mainline station and town so close is a real bonus which means no issues with parking! Lostwithiel is a real gem and a great location and having the owners living locally is an added plus should there be any problems! Will definitely be looking forward to a further stay and "Thankyou" again to the owners! Wendy Mathis

Very comfortable and well presented with everything you need provided! Beautiful outlook over lostwithiel, in a great location for visiting much of what Cornwall has to offer. We have already booked for next year!

  • "Fantastic holiday."

The Cottage was clean, welcoming and cosy with the log burner. The double bed was very comfortable and plenty of hot water for the drench shower and bath. The cottage was well equipped which was helpful to be able to wash and dry our wet walking clothes and we enjoyed the cream tea left for us. There were cleaning/washing supplies under the sink, with an iron, hairdryer and a hoover. We had no problem whatsoever with access and the lay out of the cottage. The bathroom is downstairs but wasn’t a problem. The location is very quiet and peaceful and perfect for the local pubs, restaurants and the train station, with plenty of lovely walks within easy access. We honestly can’t think of anything that could have improved our holiday. Thank you - we’ll be back.

The facilities and comfort were superb. The cottage was quiet, but with easy access to pubs, restaurants and shopping. Unbelievably clean and well maintained, but also cosy and comfortable. We would love to stay again.

  • "We had a fantastic break here in August, and the cottage was a great base for our family (2 adults and 2 children aged 7&10)."

The listing is really clear about the awkward access, so we knew what to expect, but most days during our stay we managed to park on the nearby street, only once we parked in the free car park in the village. Cottage was immaculate, cozy (loved the fairy lights!), and so well equipped, even with things like spare cleaning products if you had forgotten to bring yours… washing machine and outside space were such a bonus (getting your washing done before you go home!) and we also arrived to a bottle of Prosecco, scones, clotted cream and jam, and a pint of milk which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend

  • "Thanks for a lovely stay at Willow Cottage."

It’s in a great location, quiet and undisturbed but a easy scoot back from the river in a wetsuit (important for our kids!) We enjoyed a very comfortable stay here. Lots to do in the surrounding area. Lostwithiel is a family favourite!

  • "The cottage was lovely, immaculately clean and well kitted out with all the modern appliances you could want, including a very good wi-fi."

Access by car is slightly tricky because it involves reversing to the end of the cul-de-sac. However, there is a free car park few minutes away. One thing to bear in mind is that the toilet is on the ground floor and the bedrooms are on the first. This can be slightly awkward if you need to use the toilet during the night.

  • "We loved this cottage!"

It was very beautifully furnished and well equipped in a lovely location. We enjoyed sitting outside every evening watching the jackdaws coming in to roost nearby. The patio courtyard garden was peaceful and inviting. It was lovely to stay somewhere with a good sized main bedroom with plenty of hanging space. The bathroom was lovely and the rain shower was hard to get out of! The owners had provided a cream tea on arrival which was absolutely delicious and a lovely surprise. It was also great to be able to check in at 3pm and this is something that attached is to the cottage in the first place. So many cottages don't allow check in until 5pm and having a couple of hours extra on holiday really made a difference. I would highly recommend this cottage and a heartfelt thank you too the owners for making our stay and time in Cornwall really memorable.

  • "Lovely cottage, bigger than we expected so very pleased."

The only concern for the winter months is that the outside light up the path was obscured by the bushes around the gate and we had to bend down to avoid getting wet from the bushes going in & out gate. These need to be trimmed extensively so the light can work. Apart from that it was a good base to visit family.

  • "We loved this cottage - quietly tucked away in Lostwithiel."

We had a fabulous stay over a bank holiday weekend. There was everything we would have needed for a self catering weekend, however we ate out. It was very handy for Fowey and we discovered a lovely breakfast at The Duchy of Cornwall Nurseries only 5 mins away (in a teepee tent) Christian (the owner) popped by with fresh Scones and clotted cream which was a lovely touch and having arrived late on the Friday night it was great to find milk in the fridge. We are 2 adults with 12 & 13 yr old sons. The cottage was perfect for the four of us (and of course the WIFI kept all our 'gadgets' working). We parked every evening in the Free car park a few minutes away. It's about 40 mins to the Eden Project and both Lanhydrock and Restormel Castle (gorgeous views - take a picnic) are right on the doorstep.

Easy access to the North and South coast, Eden project just down the road. Christian was very helpful, providing more logs for the wood burner mid-week at a reasonable cost. The cottage is warm and cosy with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Recommended, the Earl of Chatham pub in the village, friendly local with awesome Sunday lunch. Best pastie, Quay bakery in Fowey. We would definitely look to stay at Willow Cottage again.

  • "Not happy that the toilet and bathroom were leading directly off the kitchen."

Not easy to get onto one of the single beds which was built up on the wall . We were not made aware of this. We were made aware of the difficulty with parking close by but did not realise the steep path to walk up to the cottage, difficult for elderly people with luggage and shopping.

Modern, clean and extremely comfortable - I'd recommend anyone staying here. Lostwithiel is an ideal location to go travelling from with lots to see and do in the area. About an hour drive over to Truro and an easy drive to St Ives. Plus there are locally run train services run by enthusiasts which were great fun. Overall, I'd heartily recommend. James

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
