• "The property was as described, clean and tidy throughout."

  Located in a small peaceful village with a nice pub and local shop that had all the basics you might need plus some local produce. Kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to cook a meal at home. All appliances were as described and in good working order. Local Farm shop did some great frozen meals and pies with plenty of local produce on offer. Nice welcome pack with local biscuits tea, coffee and milk in the fridge on arrival. Unfortunately the Cafetiere was not the best (possibly broken). One of the larger glasses was cracked but good selection of glasses, crockery, utensils & pans. Unfortunately the beds were very uncomfortable, suggest memory foam toppers to help compensate for cheap spring mattresses. We used the 2nd double duvet to provide some relief. There was no light bulb in the main light in twin bed room but spare light bulbs were provided - as we didn’t use that room we left as it was. One big concern for security of belongings and privacy from passers by, with the property being very close to the road, was the lack of curtain or blind on the front door. Good, secure outside space for the dogs and plenty of dog friendly places to visit. Overall we had a lovely stay in Mossley Cottage, and St Buryan is a pretty peaceful historic village. It was the perfect location to visit the Cornish coastal villages and towns, all the main tourist destinations as well as some stunning little coves off the beaten track. Would recommend if you are looking for a dog friendly, peaceful relaxing place to stay with easy access to local points of interest.

• "The following is a list of little things that would have made a big difference."

  Clear and specific directions for finding the cottage without a sat.nav. A warning that the off-road parking is very awkward, only suitable for a small car, that the washing line should not be up when accessing the space, and there is a drop to one corner at the back of the space. A warning about the stone slab in front of the front door - which is not obvious in the dark and rain. Advice to leave a light on when returning after dark, as the hall light switch is behind the front door. Including the wifi code in the guest handbook - to save upending and reading the router. A hook in the bathroom for robes, etc. A bath mat and a bath safety mat. Somewhere to hang wet towels in the bedrooms. All the towels are white and we did not want to share one another’s by leaving them in the bathroom. A set of dessert sized bowls - all the existing bowls are enormous. There are plenty of mugs, but cups and saucers.would have been welcome. Place mats to protect the good table under the wipeable cover. Actual problems. The conservatory roof is leaking and there were puddles on the floor when we arrived, The outside light was not working. Several double-glazed windows are blown: two in the twin room, one in the bathroom and some in the conservatory roof. The large green recycling bin was already absolutely full when we arrived. The bathroom soap container was empty. I’m sorry to be so critical, but with a little more attention to maintenance and a relatively modest outlay on a few extras, this property could be so much better.

• "The property was clean and tidy when we arrived, the welcome tray was a bit sparse as to other places we have stayed."

  It would have been nice to have a dish cloth so worktops could be wiped off etc. and an extra toilet roll as a part roll isn't sufficient. There was no hair dryer either which would have been useful. Apart from that we had an enjoyable stay, beds were comfy settees too, lots of space for families including the conservatory. Parking was no problem either and food in the local pub was delicious.

• "Location was fantastic."

  The building needs some tlc and a very deep clean. I don't expect to have to clean a bathroom wipe down furniture and hoover when I arrive. Garden is tiny full of weeds and furniture is broken or rusty . Conservatory smells fusty and was covered in dead bugs and cobwebs. We will not be back

• "Fabulous location for exploring West Cornwall and we had a great holiday."

  The cottage is in close proximity to a small shop for essentials like milk. The decor is dated and it feels in need of some love but perfectly functional.

• "Lovely property with good facilities."

  A wonderful stay. Addrsss listed as The Green but isn’t it on Lisbon Terrace? Map pinpoint not accurate when you link through from website. Also conservatory roof seems to be leaking - spotted this on last day. Would also be useful to state on website that only half the property is dog friendly if dogs are not allowed upstairs. We have a nervous dog who firsthand like to be separated so keeping him downstairs at night was not helpful.

• "Ideally located cottage."

  Local shop a boon. Overall great value for money property. You get what you pay for so basic facilities and dodgy decor are acceptable. Less acceptable was when taking covers off duvets at end of stay found several stains of unknown provenance on duvet(not us!).

• "The property and location was perfect for us."

  The milk, biscuits and availability of cleaning products was great. Sofas and beds very comfortable. Disappointed in back door closest to car parking space not opening so had to carry luggage around side of house. Also shower is weak. Know this is in part due to low pressure in village but holster was broken and shower head constantly dropped. Very minor issues in facilities but will return

  Best place we have stayed in , after a day out so nice to come back to a place that’s clean and good for our 2 Labradors to be safe and secure . Very welcoming cottage , if we wanted to go to lands end again this is the cottage we would book . Very well looked after , thank you for making our holiday relaxing .

• "Having read a recent review on here (made after I had booked the cottage) my family and I were pleasantly surprised which is was why it exceeded expectations."

  The cottage was lovely - clean, tidy and well equipped. It wasn't perfect but nowhere is and if I wanted to I could find minor things to complain about but they'd be trivial. The welcome pack was lovely and welcome after a long drive, The cottage is situated at the heart of the lovely village of St Buryan which has a good shop, a lovely pub, an interesting church which is open to visitors and and an excellent farm shop which served a lovely cream tea. Mossley cottage made a great base to travel from all around the west of Cornwall.

• "Unfortunately, this cottage promised more than it delivered."

  2 of our party ended up with bad backs from the beds and restless nights ensued. The cleanliness of the property let it down badly, lots of dust round cupboards and under beds, don't drop anything you might get a shock to the dirt. The state of the windows leaves alot to be desired, when you open the windows there is mould under the metal catchments as if no one has ever cleaned the windows in the open position. The varnish is all peeling off the window frames both inside and out and looks like they haven't been touched in years. When you use the washing machine it sounds like an aircraft is taking off inside the house, it just needs levelling off properly so it doesn't try to force its way through the kitchen. The conservatory is a major disappointment as it is rendered unusable unless it is dry. Whenever it rains it doesn't just leak, you end up with pools of water all over the floor, this has obviously ruined the laminate flooring and smells damp. The unfortunate thing with the state of the property is that most of these things have been brought to the attention of the owners before with maintenance logs and previous feedback. It could be so much better as the cottage is in a fantastic location.

• "We really enjoyed our stay in Mossley Cottage."

  The kitchen was well equipped. The bedrooms were comfortable. The location is excellent. The only issues shower is difficult to control: either too hot or cold. But we would recommend this property as a base for discovering West Cornwall.

• "I found the bed in the master bedroom to be very uncomfortable we were lucky there were only two of us so we were able to swap rooms we also found the living room furniture uncomfortable."

  The parking space was to small for Toyota Corona estate but there is on street parking.

• "Cottage was in the perfect location for exploring the different coves and beaches at the tip of Cornwall which is what we enjoy and the area we like to be in."

  This part of Cornwall remains unspoilt even with the extra influx of UK tourists this summer. The cottage is also well equipped for cooking and preparing meals. Tesco food delivery worked a treat and great fridge and freezer. Used conservatory a lot - just a slight issue with flies and spiders but that is probably normal. WiFi worked very well and cottage was very comfortable and clean. Shower was ok but we all missed our power shower! Would definitely stay again.
