  • "This property had everything we expected it to have even for the time all 10 of us were there."

It was very clean, comfortable and easy to use. It is in a stunning location. The woodland garden was wonderful for small children (and adults) to explore and play in though supervision is needed because of the ponds.

  • "My wife and I stayed here for a week with our Cocker Spaniel Dog."

What a find!!!! It is basically a large farmhouse,on a farm with a sea view. It is well maintained and was immaculately clean when we arrived. Very roomy inside and well equipped. It is remote.....so if you want quiet it fits the bill. Has it's own fairly self contained garden with BBQ and fire pit the garden is lovely on it's own. The real surprise is the walk of approx 100yds to another garden you are allowed access to. It's,put simply, quite idylic and leads, via a gate up onto the South West Coastal Path and overlooks the sea. It took our breath away! As a base to explore South Cornwall it's just lovely. Very much a family style house but there was just myself, my wife and dog and we felt at home. Jan and Bill are in the adjacent building and were friendly but not intrusive. Gave sound advice and were a great point of reference. The description on the Sykes website is honest and true but the pictures don't do justice to the setup. We had a wonderful break.

Super quiet location. Friendly and super helpful cottage care-takers. Access to an amazing extra garden with soulful areas for reflection, fun areas for children to play and direct private access to the south west coast path, enabling walking access to a few amazing beaches/coves. What's not to love!!!

  • "The farmhouse is lovely with more than enough space for our family of four, Granny and our two dogs."

Brilliantly stocked kitchen with enough pots and pans, crockery, etc for everyone. The house and gardens are looked after by Bill and Janice who are just fantastic and somehow maintain the balance of always being there when you need them and disappearing for the rest of the time. Our only complaint would be that the overall description could be clearer. The farmhouse is in the middle of a working farm and the other properties on the site are all very visible from each other but aren't shown on any of the marketing shots. The garden is wonderful but is also shared and not enclosed, which was a problem for our two dogs- both of which are well behaved but are used to running around a garden off the lead. Thankfully, the amazing Bill came to our rescue and made our part of the garden secure. We also thought that we could walk to the beach rather than drive - you can, but I wouldn't have done it with my children or their grandmother. If you are anything like our family you will have lots of 'beach stuff' to carry and that would be a hard task whilst negotiating a steep rocky path to and from the beach. We loved our holiday and the Lizard is a fantastic location, but wish we had known these things before booking.

  • "The Farmhouse was very clean and tidy with the heating on, Milk in the fridge, Coffee, Tea and Biscuits for when we arrived - a lovely touch."

The Kitchen had everything you needed to make our holiday easy, Dishwasher, Slow Cooker, Washing Machine + Electric Dryer, beds made up and towels provided.Thank you Bill and Janice. Although the weather was not too kind to us, we had a fabulous time, the children had plenty to do - puzzles, games, books, DVD's, T.V. Walking, Splashing in Puddles. Although their were 10 of us, we did not get under any ones feet - plenty of room. Lovely walks for the dogs -Coastal Path just 5 minutes walk away - Penrose Hill, Helston, is well worth a visit if you like walking. National Trust properties and gardens not too far away + Sandy Coves by car. Had a lovely meal at Gweek (the Black Swan). Directions to get there were very easy to follow. We would definitely go back.

The property

Along the coast from Coverack, a picturesque fishing village on the Lizard Peninsula, is this wonderful stone farmhouse, situated on a working farmland and 200 yards from the cliffs and sea.

It is one of three separate and well spaced out properties on the site Suited for a large family holiday, this property is ideal for families, with its three bedrooms, sleeping up to ten people.

Featuring exposed wooden beams and a blue sofa and chair suite brings it back into modern day, with a television for watching one of your favourite films on a quiet evening in.

Continue through the property's wooden farmhouse doors into the dining area with a large stone and brick fireplace and a woodburner, not in use, where you'll enjoy many nights sat around the table with a tasty meal talking over old times and new, or playing a board game and indulging your competitive sides!

Duck under the low entrance into the newly equipped kitchen, where you can find all the appliances you'll need to cook up some fantastic dishes, or prepare sandwiches for a picnic on the beach later on in the day.

Also on the ground-floor is a bathroom, which has a bath and a separate shower as well as basin and WC, and there's a ground-floor bedroom hosting a super-king-size bed, which can be made into a twin room on request.

Upstairs are the other two family bedrooms; one with a double bed and bunk beds, and the other with a double and a truckle bed, with antique furniture throughout the rooms to store your belongings, and with lovely views out to the garden below and the sea beyond, as well as a first-floor shower room with WC and washbasin to serve these bedrooms.

The property benefits from a large lawned garden, with a plethora of flora and foliage, a delightful Wendy House, and seating for when you want to enjoy some alfresco dining on a warm summer evening.

You can also walk to the cliffs through the fabulous woodland garden with its pond and folly, its huge variety of colourful shrubs and trees, and its many places to sit and look out to sea.

Pack your beach bag and walk along the cliff path to beautiful Kennack Sands, or take a 10-minute drive to Coverack Beach, which also has wonderful sands beyond the rocks except when the tide is really high.

With its gorgeous blue waters on a clear day, it will be picture perfect for a great group photo.

Located just off the coast of Coverack is a group of dangerous rocks called the Manacles reef, which have caused many ships to sink so it is now a popular area for divers exploring shipwrecks.

It is a great area for walking along the Lizard Peninsula, with both directions home to Sites of Special Scientific Interest owing to the unique geology of the Lizard, with hidden coves and rugged headlands revealed along the way.

It is also within easy reach of the Helford River, ideal for anyone who loves sailing (holiday membership available); Roskilly’s farm, where you can buy their famous ice creams and enjoy a cream tea or an evening barbecue; and numerous other attractions for children and adults alike.

Poldowrian Farmhouse will be a brilliant retreat for families and friends to come together and enjoy this incredible part of Cornwall.
