  • "The cottage is in a great location and we loved Crantock."

We were lucky to have good weather however we were unable to sit out in the garden as all the furniture was filthy and needed a good clean in general, which was disappointing. Also there were loads of cobwebs in the property which made us think it hadn't had a good clean.

  • "We loved our stay at blacksmiths cottage."

The house was even better than the pictures. It is in a great location with the beach about a 12-15 min walk and pubs, shop and restaurant 5 min walk. Lovely village. I can imagine it being really cosy in the winter with the beautiful log fire. Our only slight criticism was that the locks were broke on both bathroom doors and there are small patches of mould in a couple of places. Other than that it was a great place to stay. We would definitely come back.

  • "Comfortable, well equipped and plenty of storage."

However, living area was tiny and too dark even with lights on ( photo was misleading). Hot water problem was efficiently dealt with. Thanks. Duvets too thick for the summer (except front bedroom). Summerhouse and outside furniture didn’t appear to have been cleaned. Parking fine for small cars, we had 2 large SUVs.

  • "The cottage on the whole was very nice however there was a STRONG smell of damp and mould on the walls near the windows and in the wardrobe in the front bedroom."

There were other isolated areas of rising damp in other parts of the property. The property is a bit tired and requires some remedial work to correct the damp issue.

  • "Fantastic cottage in a great location."

Very hard to find any fault. When we had minor issues Sykes were easy to get hold of & the customer service was superb. The issue was sorted out. The coffee machine wasn’t working but we decided that it wasn’t that important enough to interrupt our holiday. The welcome pack needs updating with contact information and the tv / sky could do with some instruction for those no familiar with sky. One criticism was the pillows were not very comfortable and could have done with replacement with some better quality ones especially in the upstairs back bedroom. As the main bedroom has a velux window it did suffer from some noise in the weather conditions we had, but didn’t notice it unless it was windy or raining. We have stayed in crantock before and love the walks and the 2 village pubs that are dog friendly. Would recommend & return. Apart from that it was well equipped, comfortable and in a great location.

6 regular sized adults was a squeeze. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen well stocked. Conveniently located near beach, church, shop, 2 pubs, lovely village atmosphere. The front of the property is very small and right on the road with no gate - be very mindful with animals and small children.

The cottage is bright and airy and the outside space is south facing with a lovely summer house and lots of seating. The location is perfect, a short walk to the local pubs and village shop, a bit more of a trek to the beach but well worth it. The wine, chocolate and milk was a bonus too! We loved it and so did the dogs - just perfect

Thank you for your kind words. Glad you had such a good time. Property Owner

We stayed with friends so it was nice to have a bedroom upstairs and down. The cottage was lovely it had outdoor space but not really a garden. The hose outside had warm water and was great for rinsing our large fury dog. We enjoyed our stay and have booked again for 2023

We have been to Crantock numerous times over the years, beautiful place with welcoming friendly people in pubs and shops. Tracey is always on hand to answer questions. Chocolate, wine, milk and coffee on arrival was lovely touch. Brilliant holiday. If i had to criticise anything, the bathrooms sealants could do with replacing as not very white but other than minor niggly things the cottage is really cosy with everything you need.

Thanks so much for the feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We had noticed that the sealant needed replacing and it is planned for later this month. Best wishes Property Owner

The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and was spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed and we especially liked the warm outdoor shower that was perfect for the dog. The cottage is ideally located in the lovely village of Crantock and is a short 5 mins walk to the pub and a 10 mins walk to the beach. We would highly recommend a stay at the Blacksmith’s cottage and would definitely love to return ourselves!

A lot of thought has been put into making sure everything you need is supplied. We had a great week in Cornwall, my first visit. The cottage is an ideal base to explore Cornwall. 5 mins walk to a shop and 2 pubs for food, 10 minutes to the beach, 20mins to Cbay a lovely Bistro. It was very easy to communicate with Tracy who looked after us while we're there with anything we were unsure of.

  • "If you are looking at Blacksmith's Cottage as a place to stay then you already know what an amazing place Crantock is!"

We have just returned from our stay at Blacksmith's Cottage & it most certainly lived up to our expectations - & we have stayed in many places in Crantock (We would happily return to any but like to keep trying new ones). The cottage was centrally located, just up the hill from the shop & pub. Only 10 mins walk to the beach. The cottage was perfect for our family of 5 adults, each having their own double bedroom. The bedding & towels were of a high quality. The kitchen was spacious & extremely well equipped, with everything you needed & more - if you did want to self cater. The kitchen is open plan leading to a sunny dining area. The lounge & snug area were fabulous for cosy evenings, plenty of comfy seats for all. Being summer, we didn't light the wood burner, but I can imagine that on an autumn evening if would be very welcoming. There was a downstairs bathroom & upstairs shower room which was of a high standard. Off the main bedroom upstairs was a spacious dressing area - perfect for getting ready for nights out. The outdoor area was the best we have had Crantock - brilliant for outside breakfast in the sun, relaxing in after a day at the beach & family barbeques. It was also safe for the dog to roam in. All in all - Blacksmith's Cottage is highly recommended. (The only negative I would have is the lack of a tumble dryer)

  • "Love this cottage and stayed twice before."

However, very disappointed with the cleaning - cobwebs in two of the rooms; dust and grime on top of sockets and pictures; dust and crumbs in cupboard; bottles left in garden and water in kettle and Nespresso machine so they obviously had not been emptied and cleaned. It was evident the cottage had not been not deep cleaned. Bedroom doors squeaked very noisily and housekeeper failed to drop off WD40 as promised.
