“Quiet village location”
We booked Rosemadden for the first week in June via Cornwall Holiday Cottages at a cost of £865 including the dog.
Rosemaddon doesn’t look much from the outside but it’s deceptively spacious inside with a stunning wooden Minstrels Gallery over the living room and large kitchen diner to the back of the house. Upstairs there are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The accommodation and the furnishings were all first class. Our only disappointment with the property was the smallness of the garden, as the photos on the website don’t really convey how tiny it really is. There is a nice paved area with garden furniture just off the kitchen but the lawned area is very, very small indeed.
Although the garden lets it down a little, Rosemadden more than makes up for this shortfall by its location. It’s situated right in the centre of the picturesque village of Crantock where you have views over the tiny village green and easy access to the general stores which is only two doors along (expensive but handy). Rosemadden is within a hop skip and a jump from two pubs (the Old Albion Inn and the Cornishman) and two tearooms (the Cosy Nook and Hevlas Tea Gardens) so you’re be spoiled for choice on dining options. If you wish to venture further afield you can walk into West Pentire (one mile) and visit either C-Bay or the Bowgie Inn. Last but by no means least, Rosemadden is less than a ten minute walk to the stunning beach at Crantock Bay which is one of the most glorious beaches in the whole of North Cornwall. If you prefer a quieter beach you can always hike to Polly Joke Beach (also known as Porth Joke beach) in West Pentire, which is just over a mile from the property.
We had a splendid holiday and hardly used the car at all after we arrived as the weather was so glorious we spent each day on or around the beach and then walked to one of the nearby pubs in the evening.
Highly recommended.
