  • "Absolutely loved the house and location."

The owners welcome was very friendly and helpful. Literally the only point to mention was we could have done with another clothes drying rack( there was biblical rain one day and we completely ran out of places for all the big wet stuff) would definitely recommend the cottage and hopefully will come again

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed yourselves, Alison. We try and provide everything our guests might desire but the weather is sadly not within our capability. However, an extra drying rack would have been easy. Next time please call if there is anything you need- we are only a mile away. Property Owner

  • "Seagull Cottage was a great holiday cottage for us staying in August 2024."

(4 adults and 2 children between 5 and 12). The cottage was impeccably cleaned, stylish and modern, and the welcome hamper of local produce was a thoughtful and kind touch (especially after travelling). The ground floor bedrooms suited our family needs brilliantly too, as some mature adults in our party were better without stairs. We also appreciated the additional single bed in the dressing upstairs when our youngest child wanted to be near us. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was a good stock of games and dvds for non beach days. Parking on the driveway for one car but we managed to park the other car on the road outside without too much trouble. Crooklets beach is a five minute walk away (a lovely view of the beach out the lounge window), and Sainsbury's is a 20 minute stroll for groceries, though we did an online shop to arrive on the evening we got there for ease. Bude main town is just passed Sainsbury's and has some lovely shops and eateries too. The owners of Seagull Cottage kept in contact with us and I felt that if there had been any issues, they would have sorted them straight away. It really was a great place to stay for our family holiday.

A lovely property with beautiful views over Crooklets Beach. The cottage was very well equipped. All we missed was a washing line - but appreciate that there was a washer / dryer. Very lovely property, excellent location, nice welcome pack on arrival.

Al and Jo made sure our stay was comfortable and provided a lovely welcome pack in the fridge. Highly recommend this property, well maintained, close to the sea and a short walk to town. We look forward to another visit next year.

  • "This is the second time we have stayed at seagull cottage, and the only time we've ever returned to a cottage twice."

We just love the location and the lay out of the property. Welcoming with bread, wine, cheese on arrival and spotlessly clean. Nothing is amiss and nothing lacking with a fully stocked home from home feel at the cottage. It's extremely quiet at night. The little touches really make it special. Comfy beds, hot showers. Parking is a breeze with the private drive and everything is on the door step; straight ahead is the sea (lovely sea views too), right goes into Bude with a local Sainsburys and left you are straight onto Maer downs cliff tops where the walks are truly the most scenic. Also only a short hop over the cliffs to Northcott mouth and Sandymouth beaches. Eating out is great in Bude with our particular favourite being The Bank at Bude for Tapas and Rosies (also a stones throw from the property). Crooklets beach has so much North cornish charm, and is such that there's always a bit of beach to sit on even when the tide is in, Summerleaze is the adjoining beach with the sea pool which you can walk to at low tide. Don't hesitate to book if you are considering seagull cottage, its a box ticker, you won't be disappointed!

Thank you Kathy, We really want our guests to have a lovely time and be able to enjoy comfort in the wonderful surroundings so it is very gratifying for us to read your words. Property Owner

The accommodation was perfect in that the parents and children had the ground floor and we had self contained upstairs. Very easy access to Crookletts beach away from the busier side of town. We had a small hitch with locking the door when we arrived which was very quickly resolved by the host who was very approachable. Great facilities throughout. If I was to make one suggestion it would have been good if one of the rooms downstairs could have twin beds but this would only have been a preference and in no way was a deal breaker. Our 5 yr old grandson cried when we left because he wants t to o live at Seagull Cottage! Thank you Al and Jo for all the goodies.

The property is in a great location and very well maintained - the parking space is a bonus. The owners had left us a helpful note of things to do in the area along with a lovely welcome pack (including very thoughtful and well received treats for the teens). The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of space in all the rooms and the bathrooms. We are regular visitors to Bude and would definitely book here again. This is a beautiful property with the most perfect location just a very short walk from Crooklets beach. We had a wonderful week in Bude and would thoroughly recommend booking this accommodation, it has everything you need for a family holiday. Very well resourced. We used the well equipped kitchen facilities to cook a few meals in and also enjoyed a few excellent meals out, would recommend The Deck, L.A.B and the Preston Gate Inn. Perfect holiday spent on the beach and in the wonderful Bude Sea Pool. The owners kindly left us some delicious cheese, fresh bread and wine which was a very kind and a thoughtful touch. During our stay we have a very temporary issue with the WiFi which was resolved immediately via very prompt communication from the owner. Honestly can't fault this accommodation or location. It was ideal.

Thank you so much for your words- it is fundamental to us that guests have a wondrous hassle-free stay in comfortable surroundings. It is also helpful to us, and future guests, to learn of your recommendations. Property Owner

The cottage is ideally situated on Crooklets beach, a beach that has everything you could wish for; sand, rock-pools, cafes, live music, beach huts, a coastal walk and, particularly for our teens, great surf! The cottage itself is clearly well cared for and maintained by its owners, who left lots of thoughtful touches to help us settle in. The living area is bright and spacious, the kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms are cosy and comfortable. For our family it was the perfect cottage and I hope we’ll visit again!

  • "We stay in Cornwall every year."

This is the first cottage that we have stayed in that ticks our every box! We have just re-booked and we've only ever stayed in the same place twice once before. The location is amazing, sea views from all the back windows. The parking is nice and easy, and a lovely direct route in to the cottage. The beach is just lovely, we have really fallen in love with it. The sea pool is also just on the doorstep. Sunsets are beautiful. Cliff top walks at the top of the lane which lead off onto the loveliest walks. Bude town itself is within easy walking distance where you will find literally everything you need; nice fish and chip shop, cornish pasties, cream teas, seafood. Added bonus of a Sainsburys and Rosie's restaurant just on the doorstep too. Despite it's proximity to the amenities, it is very peaceful and tranquil - no light pollution and we all had a great nights sleep every night. As far as the cottage is concerned, it's clear the owners have intended for it to not be missing a trick and it shows. They really have thought of everything. The beds are comfy with high quality soft linen. The showers are great, 2 bathrooms ideal for a busy family. Welcoming homely decor and the fresh bread and cornish butter with wine on arrival was so good, sliced up and eaten as we unpacked! The little outdoor space at the back has a view of the beach, and is great for drying clothes too. Thank you so much for introducing us to the area, we can't wait to come back next year.

We are so pleased you enjoyed Seagull Cottage, that is music to our ears. We live in the area and want others to share it in comfort. Property Owner

  • "Enjoyed our stay very much."

There were a couple of minor things though. Not much in the way of wardrobe space and half provided was a children’s wardrobe. No bath mats which was a worry especially if like us you are getting “on a bit”. Seagull cottage was very clean and pleasantly furnished and has a view of the sea and beach. Parking for 1 car was great but if there was more than one it could be a problem as there is street parking for the surrounding houses and it is at a premium. The only other negative thing I would say is that one of the ground floor bedrooms is very small and perhaps would have benefited from bunks rather than a double bed for those families taking children. There was no wardrobe space at all in that room. The cottage was easy to find, clean and more than ample for our needs ( but only 2 of us) . Kitchen very well appointed and linen provided was ideal. Very small outside space but was sun facing in the evening. Ideally situated on the outskirts of Bude and very easy to find from directions given.

I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Seagull Cottage but dismayed to learn of the lack of bathmats. During the three weeks immediately preceding your visit, the cottage was emptied and totally redecorated from top to bottom. When the furniture was replaced we clearly omitted to return the bathmats, an omission for which I apologise and has now been rectified. Property Owner

The property

The tricolon “Location, Location, Location” is a real estate cliché which has been bandied about for almost a century, but in the case of Seagull Cottage it can be applied with hand-on-heart.

Nestled on the outskirts of the delightful coastal town of Bude in Cornwall is this superb detached cottage, Seagull Cottage.

Set over two floors and sleeping up to six guests, Seagull Cottage enjoys seaside views and easy access to the beach and coastal path, as well as being within driving distance to Tintagel Castle.

Pull into the convenient off-road parking space outside the property, where you can unload your bags with ease before stepping into the property to begin your holiday.

Be welcomed into the spacious living/dining room, where you can look forward to snuggling up in front of your favourite film with a glass of wine as the woodburning stove crackles nearby.

Whip up a tasty home-cooked meal in the well-equipped kitchen for your guests to be enjoyed around the dining room table as you toast to a wonderful holiday.

As your eyes grow weary, retire to one of three bedrooms, the first being a tastefully decorated double-size with sea views on the ground floor, along with a double bedroom and a bathroom, where you can freshen up in style.

Climb the stairs past the charming porthole window offering a sea view, to find the final bedroom, a generous double with TV, along with a dressing room.

Completing the first floor is a bathroom, where you can enjoy a hot soak in the bath after a day of exploring.

Explore your local surroundings and head into the seaside town of Bude, where you can spend the day at Crooklets beach soaking up the sun or building sandcastles with the littles ones, visit Bude Sea Pool which offers glorious views out to the sea and beyond, or play a few holes at the excellent nearby golf club.

Be sure to make a stop at The Heritage Centre at Bude Castle, which was constructed in 1830, where you can brush up on the local history followed by a warming cup of tea at the onsite café.

For those looking to explore further, take the drive to Tintagel, where you will find the National Trust sites of Glebe Cliff and the Tintagel Old Post Office which stems for the 1300’s and houses and King Arthurs Great Halls with impressive stain glass windows and guide on hand with a wealth of information.

Grab your walking boots and head up to the landmark site of Tintagel Castle, thought to be the birthplace of King Arthur, its remarkable ruins, rugged cliff-top surroundings and dramatic sea views make for an unforgettable visit.

Or, closer to hand- A few steps from the front door of the cottage and you find yourself on the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile waymarked footpath with wondrous views running from Somerset, through Devon and Cornwall and on into Dorset.

Seagull Cottage is the perfect base for enjoying a refreshing break with loved ones, whilst making memories that will last a lifetime.

About the location

BUDE

Tintagel 17 miles.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
