  • "The cottage is lovely however I don’t feel it’s big enough for 6 people, the kitchen isn’t big enough to cook for 6 people nor is the table for everyone to eat together, we had to eat in shifts and we are all slim people."

I noted we had a toddler yet the cot was not made up and there was no linen, blanket or pillow for her. We could not park 2 cars 1 behind the other without getting in the way of the other lodges which was frustrating. I am 5’7 my husband 6’2 we could not use the shower upstairs so all 4 adults were using 1 bathroom. My husband couldn’t use the upstairs bathroom without hitting his head. I know this is due to the design of the lodge but I feel it’s worth noting as we look for 2 bathrooms as we travelled with parents and it’s important to us to have space for us all. These are not meant as a negative view however if I had been aware I probably wouldn’t have booked and therefore not been disappointed with the stay. I’d say a family of 4, or 2 adults 2/3 children this lodge would feel OK. Location was good close to all the places we enjoy visiting.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay at Oaklands, some of which we were disappointed to read. We believe that the photos of the dining table and bathroom are an accurate representation of the property. The photo of the upstairs bathroom shows the exposed oak beams and sloping ceiling at one end of the bath however there is ample room to stand under the shower at the other end of the bath. We are sorry you were unaware that no baby linens/blankets/pillows are provided; this is company policy as it is felt parents would prefer to bring their own baby’s bedding. We have added a reminder to our summary advising future guests of this company policy. There is space to park two medium sized cars at the property, one behind the other, without interference to other surrounding properties. Property Owner

  • "We had a brilliant stay at ‘Oaklands’."

The property was spacious and it was a lovely location to relax. It is located slightly inland but with places of interest and beaches are a short drive away. The only minor issues were that one of the corner kitchen cupboard door came away from its hinges and a non-stick frying pan would be a bonus! Would definitely consider stopping at the property again in the future.

We are delighted to hear you had a brilliant stay at Oaklands. We are pleased to advise future guests to Oaklands that the cupboard door hinge has been repaired and a non stick frying pan has been purchased. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Oaklands, it was very well maintained and in a lovely setting."

The bedrooms were lovely and in particular the bed in the main bedroom was really comfortable. We particularly liked the wet room downstairs also. A couple of observations are, the location description is stated as Boscastle, however Davidstow is more accurate as Boscastle was a good 20min drive away down some very narrow lanes. Also having a cafetière or Nespresso machine in the kitchen would’ve been really handy, a broom to sweep through downstairs also would’ve been a bonus.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are glad you loved your stay at Oaklands. We always have a cafetière at the property. On this occasion a previous guest had broken it without letting us know. It was replaced immediately. A broom is normally kept in the cupboard under the stairs, along with a brush and pan kept in the cupboard underneath the kitchen sink. Property Owner

So relaxing and therapeutic. Need a car, but easy to get to lots of great places. Fish and chip shop in Delabole was delicious. Well appointed, but needs a few more plates if six are to be accommodated. I suspect the owners aren’t aware. Definitely recommend.

  • "We Had a really lovely holiday, Oaklands cottage had everything you could want or need, perfect location to visit so many places from beautiful beaches Bude and widemouth bay to padstow where we had the most amazing fish and chips at Rick steins."

The cottage was so clean , beds were super comfy, had every appliance or gadget needed in the kitchen. They had thought of everything including welcome gifts, biscuits, fudge and even milk in the fridge for that first cup of tea..Just perfect, Thankyou

Thank you Peter. We’re delighted that you enjoyed your holiday at Oaklands. It’s lovely that you have taken the time to pass on your feedback. We stayed ourselves this week and had a fabulous time, eating at the Tintagel Brewery Bar and Bistro and visiting Cotehele and Bude. Property Owner

  • "Nice property as described, very clean and nicely presented, good use of space."

Well equipped and loads of soft towels .Enjoyed the openness of river behind and fields. Couple of minors - lighting was very poor in the lounge area unfortunately which was frustrating. Parking our 2 cars behind each other as described in details prevented neighbours from parking their 2 cars and we had relatively modest sized cars. We managed but not ideal. We were a party of 3 , I'm sure a party of 4 would be fine but 6 would be uncomfortable for me. A lovely area to visit. Thank you

  • "Parking not very good for two cars, not much privacy all overlooking each other."

Wouldn't be big enough for 6 people.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. There is space to park two cars at the property, one behind the other which is a greater parking allocation than other lodges on the site. Oaklands is listed as "part of a select development of privately owned holiday properties" and as such is not isolated. While some guests may like to socialise with neighbours from other properties on the site there are also blinds and curtains at every window for those that prefer to keep to themselves. Oaklands is suitable for 6 people which is shown by the photos and the description on the listing. Property Owner

  • "The accommodation is lovely."

I think it might be a squeeze with 6 adults as the 'living space' is quite small for that many grown ups but with kids would be fine. The facilities in general were great but the washing machine / dryer was slightly inadequate for drying clothes. Otherwise very happy

The kitchen/ lounge area was massive (much bigger than the pictures show). All of the bedrooms were comfortable and little touches to make them homely. The wet room downstairs has the best shower!! We will definitely be returning!!

  • "The apartment was well equipped and clean, very nice decor."

A good location for getting about. But sadly the photos had made the garden look much larger than it is, and it’s very overlooked - it’s in a holiday park which isn’t clear in the description in my view and they are crammed in. So eating outside meant looking at cars, or other houses. It’s just about ok for 6 people in terms of space but it’s not huge. The garden isn’t fenced in fully so dogs can’t be left outside. Sykes didn’t really listen when I said the photos are fish eye lens and don’t represent what’s really here, I was a bit frustrated. That said, it’s a nice place, we had a nice time, it’s very well equipped, very comfortable, but I’d review the photos so expectations aren’t raised - especially the garden. I’d have given a more positive review if I knew what I was getting - but wouldn’t have been my choice as I like more internal space, garden space and nice views.

  • "Cabin whilst well equipped was a lot smaller than it appeared in the pictures on the listing."

There was no antenna signal for the television had we not had our own amazon fire stick with us there would have been little to entertain the children in the evenings. We did call the number of the cleaner and leave a message about the tv problem but did not receive a response. Whilst pets are allowed we found it not to be dog friendly as perimeter of the cabin is not secure and there was barb wire at the back over the bank leading down to the stream. Having two small dogs with us it was impossible to relax as there was no contained area and they often ended up wandering into the garden next door. Overall space was tight in the cabin for 6 people. Also all the cabins are very close to each other in proximity so you did feel uninvited guests at your neighbours BBQ
