Excellent clean facilities all in good working order. Bedding hotel standard . Will be back hopefully one year . Thank you. Only thing to mention , temperature of bath water, was only warm not hot all week. ( nice to have the option to have a hot bath instead of shower ) not sure if this is set to warm due to hot tub . But otherwise everything was great! Thank you

  • "The lodge was perfect, the location was beautiful (right by duck pond), amenities close but not too close, the location was really quiet, the people staying around us were also very quiet."

Also close to nice places, we went to Looe, polperro and golitha falls all of which were lovely. Cleanliness rates slightly lower only because there were a coupld hairs on the en suite and bathroom floors that were there before we arrived. There was also a slightly damaged bottom of the worktop unit which we took a photo of when we arrived to ensure that the owners did not think we had done it. Also two pieces in the hot tub were loose in the water - this may need fixing. These very minor things however did not make our stay any less fantastic.

Need plastic glasses for outdoors & by the hot tub. Would be nice to have more coat hooks and shelving in the cupboard by front door. We felt the two single bedded rooms were on the small side for adults. Would be helpful to have printed list of where to deposit recycling & rubbish bags. The outside parking needs to be slightly bigger as we only managed to get two small cars clear of the road,

It snowed on New Year’s Eve which was an unexpected bonus to the holiday. Accommodation perfect, warm and perfect for us. The hot tub was a fabulous facility at the property, the views were incredible (saw deer in the fields opposit the property) and we had so much fun. Staying at 14 Dobwells made what had been a hard Christmas (due to the restrictions of being with family) a very special New Year. Thank you so much, we will be back again...

This time our stay at Southern Halt was great, the cleanliness and general feel of the place was brilliant. It really was a home from home and the accommodation was immaculate and you had everything you needed. The hot tub was a great addition which we made use of but the site in general was great. Beautiful accommodation, great site and very good location for exploring Cornwall. We will definitely be back.

Hood above the hob absolutely thick with grease, shower door in the en- suite full of grime! No mirrors in the other 2 bedrooms, also no waste paper bins in bedrooms. The glass around the hot tub and decking area had never been cleaned for months. The amount of money we payed to stay there the place should have been tip top

  • "The location was brilliant and fulfilled everything you could wish for."

Its a 15 minute walk to the nearest pub which was nice enough with decent drink & food though be careful on the road as it lacks a pedestrian route. But the main reason in my opinion to go here is the isolation it provides, tranquil and quite, with only the sounds of bubbles from the hot tub and quacks of ducks, the views are spectacular the area breathtaking and the lodge itself spacious and welcoming. There is nothing better than spending your mornings with the friendly ducks and views of vast green watching the sun glide across the sky & your nights in the warmth of the stylish hot tub looking up at the stars with those close to you. Then after all is done returning to the welcoming warmth of the lodge to the fluffy cloud that is your bed. Truly an experience everyone should have :-)

  • "Beautiful, cosy and extremely comfortable lodge in a stunning setting."

Very well equipped kitchen with everything you could need. We cooked full traditional Christmas dinner for four with no problems. Loved the touches of welcome pack with tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tabs, washing liquid and local attraction leaflets. Good wifi connection, no problems chatting to my family in New Zealand on Skype and checking my online business messages. Powerful showers and lovely large bath sheets with hairdryer also available at the property. Lovely bonus was a welcoming Christmas tree in the property. Hot tub was a joy to relax in each day. Loved spotting the wildlife around the beautifully landscape site. Even took my wildlife trail cams to see what was about. Few good walks a short drive from site...Goiltha falls and Siblyback lake. We took both of our elderly Mum's, one being disabled on crutches and even though the property is not listed as a full disabled access property it worked very well for her with just one step up to property and walk in shower. We did take some disable aids to assist her like rubber shower mat, toilet raise, handles and cushion raises. Really loved the lodge, the property owners have done a fantastic job.... just one concern and couple suggestions for actual site owners. Given site has David Bellamy Award for enhancing & protecting environment was a little concerned to see hot tub being drained into wildlife pond at end of week. Would like to see some walks listed straight from site in welcome pack. Site management email contact info on laminated sheet in property needs updating. Would definitely recommend property...we are already planning our return visit!

  • "Relaxing holiday for a family of 4."

The hot tub was visited every day with friendly staff. The views were excellent and peaceful. Netflix channel in both the lounge and main bedroom kept the boys occupied when not out and about or in the hot tub. There were some games but the dominos had two broken pieces and one missing and we did not attempt the jigsaw. The cleaners forgot to clean the microwave and the frying pan may need replacing. Otherwise it was pretty clean. I broke an ice tray..... sorry. The pub was more than 5 minutes away and I would not attempt to walk there at night because of the road with no pavement. You can go through the bottom via Meadow View and spend less time on that road but I wouldn’t do it on a night. The little fountain pond and stream is a lovely addition when flowing and on. The walks are pleasant round the sites. Very tempting to buy a lodge........ The balcony is overlooked to the right and left by the other lodges. But realistically they are there for the same reason so a friendly hello and wave makes all the difference to our holiday neighbours. The site is well looked after so expect some noise from the gardening staff at one stage. We were there for two weeks so the earthquake was just the lawnmowers. Most things are within a short drive including National Trust and Beaches. Adrenaline Quarry and Aldi/Morrison’s in ten minutes. Well definitely book again, a home from home - it was superb.

The lodge exceeded our expectations, from the welcome pack with all the essentials you need when you arrive to even having board games for the children. Having two teenage children with us the WiFi was an added bonus too. For me and my husband, the hot tub was the piece de resistance. After a day travelling around beautiful Cornwall it was such a lovely bonus to able to unwind in the hot tub in the evening with a glass of prosseco or two looking at the stars. Great holiday , great lodge , could do with an extra frosted panel round by hot tub at the lake end for privacy for both our lodge and the one next door as you can clearly be scene while in the tub if they are out on decking which we weren’t too happy about as it felt uncomfortable , having the hot tub flag up filter change from day we landed for the two weeks we were there wasn’t overly happy about contacted contact number day we arrived and advised ok to use ,given filter was concerned off cleanliness ,other than that very happy our 4 th year at southern halt first year with Sykes , will be great if there is ever an on-site shop / food ,will be back next year for sure

The only thing I would say, it is a lodge that sleeps six therefore more than one key would be beneficial. Luckily there were only two of us so one key was absolutely fine however if a couple of families/couples went together, you would all be tied down to going out & coming back at the same time. No issue for us this time, just an observation. Would highly recommend this lodge though.
