  • "We have stayed at a few lodges on southern halt and 15 Horizon view is the best by a long long way it is outstanding on every level."

    Perfect location, clean, comfortable and very spacious we will definitely be coming back. Our only fault ( and this is no reflection on the lodge in anyway) is the gravel road around the lodges needs some attention there are lots of nasty pot holes forming. Also maybe southern halt need to think about installing a pay as you go ev car charging point at the front for all to use.

  • "Loved this lodge it was is very clean and well looked after."

    Everything you need for a weeks stay. The hot tub was a bonus and was checked every day. The grounds of Charter Oak was kept in tip top condition. The lodge was very secluded which we loved. The only downside we found was that the bedroom curtains did not stop the light in first thing which meant we were awake very early ( that is a personal thing as I am used to blackout curtains) but that certainly would not stop me booking the lodge again. Definitely one to recommend

  • "This place was lovely, exactly what we thought we were going to get abs then some."

    Very much like the brochure and home from home. Big drawback was we arrived in Good Friday to no WI-FI. Which was reported that day, explaining that my husband needed to work on his laptop after the bank holiday weekend ie the Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately there was no WI-FI until the Tuesday afternoon meaning he could not work and he had to take a days annual leave for that. We booked this place knowing we had catered for WI-FI and that he would be able to work, as since covid he has to work from home. This was disappointing. No compensation was offered for the lack of Wi-Fi either. Other than that the lodge and site itself was amazing.

  • "We have stayed in several lodges at Southern Halt but 15 Horizon View has been the most secluded."

    Everything was what we have come to expect. One minor point - the flush in the en suite did not work well and needs attention. A great place to stay, though!

  • "Spent Christmas 2021 at No."

    15 Horizon View and it was amazing. The property is well maintained and clean. We cooked our Christmas dinner with ease thanks to a well stocked kitchen and a lovely large fridge. Hot tub was a great addition and was maintained every day, even Christmas Day! Would highly recommend this property. Thanks for making our Christmas special.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay here."

    Cottage was really nicely furnished, modern and clean. Lovely garden with good privacy. However, bear in mind the garden isn't totally secure/enclosed if you're considering bringing a dog. The kitchen if fully equiped if you want to do your own cooking which is helpful. The hot tub is great, and is cleaned/checked on everyday. We found the bed very comfortable, and the bedsheets soft. All in all, came away thoroughly relaxed. We would definitely look to come back next year.

  • "We have just returned from a short break from 15 Horizon View and the only thing which we could fault is that we didn’t go for longer."

    We all had a lovely time exploring the local area and beyond. If you have a dog a walk at Goliath Falls is a must (it is a little muddy at the moment but worth the mud as it’s stunning) The hot tub was very much enjoyed early evening every evening to relax in and was the perfect end to each day.

  • "Loved the holiday but only a few comments to feedback."

    .. The central heating did not seem to be calibrated. We had too have it on 28 for the radiators to kick in. The radiator in the main bedroom do not get every hot as the same rate as others in the propetry. It was sometimes cold at the bottom which suggests the system needs flushing (not bleeding). The main bedroom smelt damp towards the rear of the room, nearer the bathroom. This could be linked to the radiator issue? Apart from those little things, simply could not fault anything!

  • "A long weekend was not enough."

    This was a beautiful location and perfect accommodation. So peaceful and relaxing. Close to so many wonderful places. The accommodation is well designed, thought out and clean. Plenty of towels and a lovely welcome pack and a pint of milk for your first cuppa. Jacuzzi was clean and perfectly sheltered so we made the most of it even with the wind and rain. We will be back.

  • "It was stunningly beautiful both the accommodation and the site and one weeks stay was not enough, hopefully when we book again we can stay for two weeks."

    The only thing I would complain about is the water pressure of the shower which was barely non existant in our lodge, which was very frustrating as was unable to wash my hair properly whilst there and had to go too Looe and have it washed at the hairdressers. Other than the water pressure of the shower I would highly reccommend and can't wait to go and stay there again.

  • "The lodge exceeded mine and my partners expectations by far, it was such a lovely atmosphere everywhere we went."

    . But at the same time you weren’t bothered by anyone’s noise. The location of the actual place was perfect as it was right in between Plymouth and Newquay way! Shop just a ten minute drive around the corner with places to eat etc.

  • "What an amazing first experience."

    Beautiful lodge; clean, tidy, fully equipped. The towelling robes were especially appreciated for getting in and out of the hot tub. The only issue we had was finding the place as the post code took us to a residential street a few minutes away but we found it eventually! We will definitely be back.

  • "The property was very clean and comfortable."

    I was surprised there was not a supply of toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets for the week. There was also no washing up liquid. The property was advertised as having an enclosed garden but unfortunately this was not the case so it made it awkward with our dog. However we did manage ok. Overall though the property was great and I would love to stay again.

The property

Sitting at the head of the spectacular water feature that meanders through Faraway Fields, this delightful detached home occupies a simply stunning location, set very much on its own and surrounded by mature trees and varied planting.

Three sets of French doors lead from the Lounge and Dining Areas providing level access to the outside space, with extensive decking lying on 2 sides of the property.

The master bedroom features a set of French doors leading onto the delightful private patio, which is ideal to enjoy that first cup of coffee or breakfast.

The hot tub is screened to provide privacy yet let the sun in!

From the deck there is level access onto the extensive grassed area that lies to one side of the home.

The living space is light and airy and well designed so as to take the sun as it moves round during the day.

From the home and also from the deck there are wonderful far reaching views towards the surrounding countryside.

At the rear of the lodge there is a large parking area suitable for 2 cars.

During your stay you may fancy venturing up the North Coast to Padstow, Rock Polzeath or Port Isaac, however if you would rather stay closer to home from home, nearby Bodmin Moor offers endless walking opportunities as does the South West Coast Path, or nearby Liskeard offers extensive shopping and other facilities depending on your interests.

Guests can enjoy the bar and restaurant at our sister site, Stonerush Lakes, which can be found a short drive away.

For some sun, sea and sand you can visit Looe, and sunbathe on East Looe Beach, a perfect location for swimming as well and great for the little ones to have a paddle. Southern Halt is a gorgeous retreat, ideal for getting to know this lovely part of Cornwall.

Liskeard 2.6 miles; Looe 8.4 miles.

The rural village of Dobwalls is surrounded by open fields and wooded countryside, and is close to the market town of Liskeard, the slopes of Bodmin Moor and the glorious north and south Cornish coastlines. This is a perfect base for exploring the many delights the region has to offer, with the picturesque fishing harbours of Looe, Fowey and Polperro within 15 miles to the south whilst Padstow and the surfing beach at Polzeath lie a comfortable drive away on the North Coast. Take a trip to Siblyback Lake and enjoy the wonderful sailing, fishing and watersports on offer, or travel a little further and take advantage of the superb walking on Bodmin Moor. The Eden project lies within 15 miles and Plymouth is just a 30 minute drive, or 25 minute train ride from nearby Liskeard station. With the Barbican harbour district, renowned aquarium, and good selection of shops, restaurants and theatres, this is a great holiday base.
