  • "We all absolutely loved our stay!"

We have never done a staycation before but now we have totally spoilt ourselves staying here! We are missing this place already! I would definitely recommend this place and already passed details onto friends and family who have took a interest. Myself, my mum and 2 children wanted to get away for a week or too. We wanted something quiet, classy, with no dogs or screaming kids! We got what we wanted. This was perfect! Thank you

  • "Very clean property."

As described on website. Would have appreciated some information on how to use the settings on the microwave. No bathrobe or toiletries for the third and fourth adult guest. The view was outstanding, shame about the raised bank in front of the hot tub. Good base for exploring north Cornwall. We would love to return. Thank you.

Whilst no facilities as such on site, the lodge is beautiful, inside and out! The worries of COVID were settled when we were welcomed to a very clean lodge, the hot tub is checked everyday and the day we left, it was being emptied in the morning for the next visitors. The location is great especially for links to surrounding attractions. Not far from Padstow, St Ives, Looe and Fowey. The only issue was the beds were very uncomfortable, the mattresses very soft. Other than that everything was absolutely perfect! And I would highly, highly recommend.

Thank you for your feedback. Pleased to hear you enjoyed your holiday. Sorry the beds were not to your personal taste. We do are best to cater for all. We hope you will return soon. Property Owner

  • "Lodge was comfortable, clean and internally generally well maintained."

Was as described and kitchen well equipped. Issue was with Hot Tub which was not as hot as expected. This was reported and poorly dealt with with a lack of communication between Sykes, the on site representative and the customer. Temperature remained on ongoing issue throughout and impacted upon stay. In general the cleanliness both internally and externally of the hot tub on arrival was below expectations.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return."

The only negatives we had is we had to sweep and mop the floor upon arrival as it was a little dirty, not a big deal though. We had to contact reception regarding the bath and shower not working in the main bathroom. The engineer fixed the shower while we were out but the bath wasn't fixed. The plug was broken I think. My wife and son prefer baths to showers so this was a little disappointing. Apart from this it was a great holiday. Perfect location.

Good location to go out and visit Liskeard and Looe and we also walked down to the village for Sunday lunch in the Highwayman pub which was nice. I would definitely recommend this lodge for a lovely relaxing stay. The position of the lodges mean that it feels very private but you also get an amazing uninterrupted view of countryside from your patio and hot tub.

  • "The equipment provided was of a high standard but there were no instructions for any of it."

Dishwashers, hobs, and microwaves do not all function in the same manner and whilst we might possess them at home that's no guarantee that we can successfully operate items of a different brand without a modicum of help. We never did get the cooking hob to work and the TV had an annoying tendency to switch itself on at any time of day or night. I recognise that leaving paper instructions lying about in the midst of a Covid pandemic might be problematic but we have had 2 previous holidays this year in rented cottages where the problem was overcome. Moreover there was a drawer full of videos in the lounge area so perhaps Covid worries were not the cause of having no instructions. Having opened the top drawer of the freezer to put food in we found the freezer so iced up that the drawer would not close again so we removed it entirely. But perhaps the most annoying aspect was that the number given for enquiries and minor problems (such as that with the freezer) was permanently closed with reference to another number for "emergencies" only. Generally clean but the early discovery of an obviously used man's sock (one only) on the floor behind a bedroom door suggested that the vacuum cleaner had not been used in that vicinity.

  • "As we are in a pandemic we thought the property would be deep cleaned for each booking, we were disappointed with the cleanliness, marks on kitchen units and showers not properly cleaned, As this property is sold as 5 stars we thought everything would be first class, the cushions on the outside seats were all stained, the decking was very slippery and the hot tub had a tide mark round it."

No information given on contacts, and no information on using kitchen equipment. We were not given instructions on what to do with the bedding only towels to be left in the bath. The freezer was in need of a defrost (we didn't use it).

  • "The lodge was amazing."

It had everything you needed for a short or longer stay. The welcome pack with the cleaning cloths and dishwasher tablets was very useful. The hot tub was cleaned throughout the stay a few times. The lodges were private enough, but may depend on your neighbours. We had a young family next to us, and it was no problem at all. I only marked down the comfort factor due to a couple of minor points- firstly the duvet was a 13.5 tog.. phewwwww it was a tad warm at night (a lighter summer duvet required!) and secondly one of the sofa's was a little hard after sitting on for a while. One other thing to note, the TV being connected to the internet meant that it would randomly change channels occasionally, or it would come on at night after we had gone to bed. Thankfully we quickly realised what the issue was so it didn't bother us too much. Overall, a lovely place to stay.

We just had a couple of small issues the bedrooms get very light in the morning as the blinds float in front of the windows and are not very thick but also on our last morning had the hot tub man walking past the bedroom window while we were still in bed made us feel a bit uncomfortable didn't feel very private as he could easily see through the gaps in the blind if he wanted too also on the second night we were sat relaxing with the french doors open to see a dog on the decking and a dog walker smiling at us on the grass again didn't feel very private but apart from those small issues we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend

  • "Second time we have stayed at number 3."

Facilities are excellent and the property is clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished. Only one very minor irritation, the WiFi is not specific for number 3 and we found that the smart television in the lounge area would switch on, change channels, increase/decrease volume and switch to Netflix on its own. We can only assume that a smart TV in another property was interfering with ours. It was quite a shock to come home after dark following a day out to discover the tv on in the property. Minor issue though and probably easily rectified.

The lodge was as described if not better and there was no issues to report during our 4 night stay. We would 100% recommend staying there, lots of places are within a 30 minute drrve that are worth seeing. Another review mentioned Golitha Falls, what a beautiful place to visit! We are already looking at another booking with Sykes Cottages for next year purely based on just how good our stay was. Only 1 slight thing to mention was that the knives we used were blunt and could with a sharpen which in no way spolied our trip just was a bit awkward preparing dinners in the evenings. This would not put us off visiting again!

  • "The lodge was beautifully furnished and clean."

The beds were the most comfortable to sleep on, and the view over the fields were to die for. Everything you needed was there, but the funniest thing was the TV. You put it on and it says you are connected, but gives you the Central news (Birmingham and the Midlands), and not Cornwall. The hot tub was the real star though. Very enjoyable after a hard days discoveries. There is a menu for the Old Mill Restaurant on the table, but it is a 15 minute drive from Horizon View. If you visit the Old Mill, then you are in for a treat, as the food is excellent, and reasonably priced. Sally, the lady behind the bar is lovely and friendly. If you want peace and tranquillity, then we thoroughly recommend Horizon View. Nick & Becky.

  • "We recently spent two nights at this wonderful lodge and the only thing I regret is not staying longer."

The moment we arrived at 3 Horizon View we loved it! The light open spaces and spotlessly clean rooms were just wonderful. The beds are so comfy! The one thing I would suggest though, is a tv in the twin bedroom as my son's did miss one. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need and is kept spotlessly clean. The living room was also clean and apart from everything being wonderful it really missed a rug! (Agreed this is a very minor issue) but with it being all laminate flooring it would have created a more warmer cosier space, especially during the wintery nights. Outside was just brilliant! The immaculate lawn areas and the incredible view was faultless, the hot tub was the highlight of our stay. My family and I spent many hours relaxing and chatting over the bubbles whilst enjoying the views, total bliss. The hot tub is cleaned daily and again is spotless! The whole lodge site at Southern Halt is pretty much stunning!! Absolutely immaculately kept, although we really think it would benefit from an onsite restaurant/pub as the one at stone lakes (sister site) was much further away than we thought! It was quicker to drive into Looe which was only 5minites away Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and have already recommended it to a few friends and family. We most definitely will be returning! Thank you Sykes cottages for this little beauty!

It was so picturesque and the inside was both modern and cosy. The beds were super comfy and we loved the robes. The only thing that slightly affected our visit was the gentleman cleaning the hot tub on the morning we were checking out. We were trying to eat breakfast and he was just outside the window the whole time. As checkout was 10am we thought he could have waited until we had left. It was such an incredible stay and I honestly didn't want to leave, I could easily live there. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It has everything that you need!! No complaints what so ever. The only thing I'd like to mention is that the blind next to the television is loose and not secured properly. We shut it fine on Friday but when my partner opened this Saturday morning it nearly hit him on the head. Also only one dressing gown had a robe but that wasn't an issue as we didn't end up wearing them. Such a well kept lodge, can't wait to come back. Many thanks for such a wonderful, welcoming stay
