  • "This was a special holiday after my husbands cancer diagnosis and treatment."

I wanted it to be wonderful and whilst the location and garden were fabulous- the house was not to the standard we’ve had with other properties of the same cost. There was a hole in the roof of the one bedroom, tiles off the toilet in the downstairs loo, spiders everywhere (phobia of mine), a doormat that was in pieces. The windows that should have given a fabulous view were also in need of a good clean. The outdoor furniture had bird poo and stuff from the roof that had fallen over it. There were no suitable cleaning products so I had to make do. I do think the property was cleaner when we left! There were mysteriously two kitchen tea towels soaked hanging out of the kitchen window when we arrived. I have pictures should you need them. As I said, this was our first holiday after the cancer diagnosis and treatment so cleanliness was a concern, but I wanted it to be relaxing for my husband so starting by cleaning garden furniture was not a great start to the holiday. That said the location is incredible but we don’t feel we had value for money with this property I’m afraid.

We thank you for your comments about the location and the garden. We would like to say in addition that the kitchen as well as its appliances, the bathroom and the shower room are all new, just a few months old and we have had very positive recent comments from others about these. Regarding the cleanliness, spiders, bird poo outside etc. we thank you for bringing this to our attention and have been in the process recently of changing cleaners with a new firm starting 26th July. The small bit of plaster on one bedroom ceiling is only cosmetic but will be repaired shortly. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at Flushing Medows many times before under the previous owners and this was the first time under the new owners."

New Separate wet room( shower), new bathroom and kitchen upgrades are an improvement . We love the area and house for its quiet location . We found the house not as clean as found on previous stays ( Kate the original cleaner who worked for the previous owners did a very good job), Still a lovely house and location so will be back again Russell

Dear Russell, Glad you enjoyed your stay. We’d have loved it if Kate had been able to carry on. We are still looking for the most appropriate replacement to deliver the quality service that she provided. Property Owner

  • "Flushing Meadow nestles in a wooded valley running back from the Beach."

Early mornings are full of the song of Blackcap and Whitethroat Warblers. A complete joy. The new Kitchen is a huge improvement and we used it much more than in previous years. We love the view down the valley and across the sea towards Falmouth. The large garden hides all sorts of interesting plants. Pretty decent Gunnera draws the eye and gives one the taste for exploration. Frustrating that we cannot currently book it for the same time next year

We are so glad to hear you love the garden too. It’s a bit of paradise thanks to David our wonderful gardener who has looked after it for decades now. We will open next year up for booking very soon Property Owner

  • "We love it here."

We’ve stayed there a few times now. We were there the same time last year for our 50th anniversary and was booked in for September which unfortunately was cancelled for reasons beyond our control which was very disappointing but we were so glad to see it was back up to rent by the new owners. We thought that was it . So we booked up immediately for our 51st. Hopefully we’ll be back again soon and we love the new bathroom and kitchen by the way. It really was needed

  • "The property was very cold particularly downstairs but auxiliary heaters were provided."

The property itself whilst in small parts a little tired has a great part new kitchen and 1st class bathroom. However this property is far more than a holiday let, it is the owners much loved holiday home and is wonderfully comfortable. The well tendered large garden and the views of the creek are outstanding. Doggy heaven. We certainly hope to be able to stay there again.

  • "The property is picture perfect and the garden amazing ."

The welcome pack of cream tea ,biscuits and milk was much appreciated. You need to take everything with you food wise though , even basics like salt and pepper, as none are provided. There are plenty of cleaning products but you do need to take tea towels. The internal of the property is disappointing as it is very tired and desperately needs updating. The property was clean and the towels were soft and sumptuous. The bedding was a little worn but clean. The bed is quite small , only a double, there is plenty of room for a king, which would be a nice addition. The furniture throughout the property is basic, though the sofas very comfy. The old bath is unusable as the enamel coating has flaked off in areas , which leaves it unhygienic. The attached shower head leaks terribly which affects the power of the water , so a shower is slow and tedious, there was plenty of hot water. The kitchen cabinets are very dated and worn there was a lot of water damage around the sink area.and it was impossible to remove the damp smell from the kitchen. The log burner was not usable and was declared as dangerous, the room heaters were very old but worked and were needed in the evenings , as though there was plenty of sunshine the easterly wind was very cold. We did have a fab holiday, and enjoyed the 2 beaches, which are very close to the property, we also enjoyed the local coastal walks .

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, your comments are important to us. We're pleased to hear that you had a great holiday at Flushing Meadow, it's a lovely property. You'll be pleased to hear that the new owner is currently in the process of having a brand new kitchen, bathroom and shower room fitted, as well as a number of other enhancements. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. - Cornish Cottage Holidays Property Owner
