  • "The cottage was lovely and clean, and I would recommend staying there."

The views are fantastic and there is a lot to do locally. Really appreciated there being milk, tea and coffee on arrival. There is good internet access, and the facilities are very good. There is a 24/7 dairy shop in the near be village of Saint Newly East, which was brilliant. 24/7 cake, ice cream, milkshakes, tea and coffee! 15 - 30 mins from great beaches and only a few minutes from the A30. I have a disability and although there was a frame for the toilet, I would recommend there is a toilet seat riser. The shower is a walking in shower and there was a shower stool available, which was great, but a grab rail would be good. Also, a grab rail at the door to the field would be recommended. The doors are nice a wide which is really good for wheelchair users.

  • "Wheal Kitty is well located to visit either coast."

It is spacious for two but may feel cramped in the lounge area for four. We didn’t find the sofa very comfortable but that’s personal choice. It has a usual but comfortable four poster bed and a wet room accessible to all. Great parking, location and views.

Wheal Kitty was excellent. Parking was easy, the cottage was clean and just the right size for 2 of us. The shower was also very easy and accessible. It was a central location for all parts of Cornwall, although some of the country lanes are a bit scary. We would definitely stay again.

  • "We found the accommodation to be very comfortable and the location is extremely peaceful and it is pleasant to sit out in the evening although no chairs are provided, only a picnic bench."

There are adjoining holiday properties so noise levels could depend on who is staying next door but sound insulation between the properties is excellent. Minor drawbacks are that freezer and general storage space in the kitchen is rather limited (we mainly self cater). Also there is no external washing line or dryer for items which are unsuitable for putting in the washer/dryer such as swimwear and wet suits. We were unable to find instructions for the tv, washing machine, cooker, microwave etc. Also we found some of the crockery and utensils were not clean on this occasion. There is an imbalance in size between the bedrooms so the property is probably best suited to a couple with children, or just three adults. The owners live on site and are friendly and approachable and would I am sure sort out any major issues. We have now stayed three times and would recommend this property so long as you are prepared for a short drive down the country lanes to access it.

Only a few minutes away from some lovely beaches and a do not miss National Trust House. We loved it. We just wish we could come again with our small dog. It was clean and had everything you would need. Just one thing that could be changed was the 2 single beds were way too soft. Perhaps these need to be replaced to firmer ones. Other than that, everything was great, owners were friendly.

We were looking for a reasonably priced, out of season holiday, and Wheal Kitty is worth every penny. The cottage is in an idyllic, rural setting in the centre of Cornwall, which makes accessing popular tourist attractions easy. We were especially pleased by the well-equipped kitchen, which allowed us to eat a variety of meals without paying through the nose at restaurants every night. The cottage was warm and inviting; it was like a home away from home. Our hosts, Ann and Howard Farmer, are clearly attentive and made sure we were comfortable and welcome. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that we are all looking forward to our next stay at Wheal Kitty. I will also be recommending it to any of my acquaintances who are considering a holiday in Cornwall.
