• "We absolutely loved Apple Tree Cottage and will be back if we can."

  It is decorated and fitted out to an extremely high standard. It feels like you are borrowing the home of someone who has both very good taste and a lot of experience of designing a living space. The kitchen makes very clever use of limited space. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. For example, we enjoyed having a choice of pillows of different softness / fillings. The location is incredible. Gweek is a gorgeous village in easy reach of all the best that SW Cornwall has to offer. The cottage is just a couple of doors down from the village shop, which is so well stocked with tempting goodies that it's obviously an attraction in the area itself. The very nice village pub is literally right across the street. It's a short walk to the seal sanctuary. For a small-ish cottage the garden is huge and lovely. Keep going right to the end to find a hot tub and little stream running past. Although this didn't bother us at all, my only negative point would be the fact that the master bedroom faces onto the street near the junction in Gweek and the window is single glazed. As you can imagine in such a quiet place, there's virtually no traffic during the night but if you have a lie in you might be bothered by traffic noise, first thing in the morning, especially if a tractor goes past. There's no dedicated parking just for you but we had no problem parking the car right outside or very close, even in the height of the August tourist season. For somewhere so nice and in such a popular spot, the price was very fair - something of a bargain. We've stayed in a lot of self catering cottages over the years and Apple Tree is right up there as one of the best.

• "Lovely cottage, very authentic and tastefully furnished with everything you need."

  Gweek is lovely and well placed for visiting all the lovely sites, however, the cottage is sited on the entry to two roads into the village and quite noisy, additionally there is some kind of pump/generator constantly going from a property at the back which hinders sitting by the water for quiet time. Parking outside the cottage is non-existent, best park by the village green. Locals park outside the cottages from further up the road (this I know as a frequent visitor with family in the village) and they do not seem to consider you need access to the front door as they block the gateway, therefore, the only way into the cottage. This is very unsatisfactory especially if you have mobility issues or a pram. My 87 yr old father on sticks and needs a wheel chair sometimes had no chance to enter. You have to scale the wall and open a side gate at the side of the property, which can only be opened from inside the garden, to allow access for my dad. Other properties have signs stating do not obstruct the gateway, maybe something to be considered.

• "The cottage is small, but a real gem - we went as father plus two teenagers, but would also suit a couple plus one child, or maybe two adult couples."

  There's a really high standard of cookware and equipment - the garden is nice, and the spa is a real bonus. We had a lovely stay, and my daughters adored it. Excellent general store / cafe next door, good pub opposite, and plenty of local beaches and attractions. Parking sometimes an issue, but we used the general store park with their blessing. Recommmended overall and we would book again

• "When we first arrived the cottage was very cold and took all night to warm up once I had worked out how to use the heating."

  After speaking to the owner in the morning he did suggest he bring up electric heaters but by then the cottage was warm. There were also a few maintenance issues such as the one side of the cooker tripping the electrics so had to navigate the fuse box which wasn’t easy as it’s up high. Some lights did not work at all and one lamp only worked when you fiddled with the lead. We have advised the owner direct of these issues. Parking at times was difficult so had to park a short distance away from the cottage which wasn’t ideal having mobility issues. Lastly we had to sleep in the back room after a couple of nights due to the noise of the morning traffic and late leavers at the pub across the road. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the area and was a good size for us during our stay.

We have booked an engineer to address the electrical issues you identified. Regarding parking, there is nearly always space outside the cottage or one or two doors down however this is not guaranteed. We will check the information for potential guests with mobility issues to make sure no one gets caught out. Property Owner

• "My dog Gus and I had a fantastic Christmas break at Apple Tree Cottage."

  It is a really beautiful home and had a very pretty Xmas tree all set up for us in the living room. We had also both been left some treats. Parking is on the street outside, but never a problem finding a space. There’s a pub opposite and village shop next door. The wood burner was so cozy at night whilst cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen. I especially loved the coffee machine. The bed was so comfy and huge. Bathroom with shower and robes was lovely. I enjoyed the hot tub. We were able to visit The Cornish Seal Sanctuary which is within easy walking distance of the cottage and drove about 20 mins for a stunning coastal walk from Gunwalloe Fisherman’s Cove to Church Cove. We also popped to Falmouth to have a look around. Thank you for letting us stay. We had a wonderful time.

• "The cottage exceeded all expectations."

  Great location, lovely garden and amazing wood burning hot tub. Very relaxing environment, beds really comfortable and well equipped kitchen. The black swan pub, literally 20 yds from the cottage do an amazing Sunday roast. We really enjoyed our time around the cottage. Good central location to explore the Lizard peninsula. Kynance cove is a must.

• "This is our third visit to Apple Tree cottage."

  . it’s a great location for exploring, and the village has a real community spirit. We love the garden which is great for our dog, and the cottage has all the comforts we need… I would say that on this visit, we noticed that the bathroom had become a bit tired and in need of a spruce-up.. the shower head and hose is damaged and the tile grout looked grubby.

• "Great, relaxing break in a beautiful cottage."

  Everything we needed was available and we loved the fire, kitchen and garden. Local village was beautiful and everyone was really friendly. Best village shop. Great location for venturing out and about. Really appreciated the gifts on arrival

• "Apple Tree Cottage was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean - the perfect hideaway from the world, which was just what we were looking for."

  The hot tub was private and added a touch of luxury. The garden was lovely, the apple tree beautiful. The bed was enormous and so comfy, the bedding and soft furnishings were excellent quality. The kitchen was the perfect cosy cottage kitchen, with the range and the round table. All the fixtures and fittings were high quality. The village of Gweek is lovely, and the local shop is a real hub and has everything you could need, with friendly staff. Our top local visits were Mullion Cove, a circular walk from gorgeous Helford to Dennis Head and Frenchman’s Creek, St Michael’s Mount and Minack Theatre. And we absolutely recommend the pasties and sausage rolls from nearby Gear Farm - best ever!! We loved every minute of our autumn break in the rugged Cornish countryside of the Lizard Peninsula and hope to be back one day. Thank you to the owners of Apple Tree Cottage for a wonderful stay.
