  • "Overall, the details of this accommodation are outdated and need to be corrected."

    The directions to the property were poor, with no signage visible. The address was only found after several attempts up and down Strawberry Lane, crossing a very uneven ford and eventually following a bumpy farm track. First impressions were good in terms of cleanliness and layout. The fresh flowers and cream tea were a welcoming touch. However, although tins for tea, coffee, sugar, and biscuits were provided, they were mostly empty. The accommodation itself was clean, with quality linen provided, and the beds were comfortable. The bath proved difficult to access, particularly for those needing assistance, and a grab rail would have been helpful. The description listed a smart TV and a wall‑mounted thermostat, but neither were present. The TV was a Freeview TV with no smart functionality, and there was no accessible control for the heating, which operated independently. Given the cold weather during our stay, it would have been preferable to have control over the temperature. Other issues included a lack of hooks for dressing gowns, no soap or towel in the kitchen, and limited kitchen equipment, such as the absence of a suitable measuring jug. The outdoor space could also be improved. The cushions stored outside were dirty and mouldy, and unsuitable for use. The garden furniture would benefit from replacement cushions, and a parasol would be a useful addition. After several days, we decided to leave a day early. Overall, while there were some positive aspects, the property would benefit from better maintenance, updated facilities, and a more accurate and up‑to‑date description.

The Baler House sits beside a working farm, nestled at the end of a Cornish country lane, alongside three similar barn conversions.

With accommodation over two floors, this two-bedroom mid terraced retreat makes a welcoming holiday home stay for up to four guests.

From the courtyard parking spot, enter the charmingly styled open plan living space, with emerald-hued sofas for snuggly evenings in with a good film on the Smart TV.

The well-equipped kitchen area ensures the cook of the party is included in the chatter, as Cornish breakfasts and good food is prepared.

The dining table is great for gatherings, planning that coastal ramble or boat trip around the bay.

A complimentary cream tea greets you – remember, jam first!

At the end of the day, the first floor is host to two bedrooms, one with king king-size bed and the other twin beds.

The contemporary shower room guarantees a fresh start to the day.

Enjoy a morning coffee, barbecue or evening tipple in the private and enclosed courtyard garden.

The Strawberry Lane Cottages consist of a welcoming selection of four cottages resting on the outskirts of the charming town of Hayle, in Cornwall. This collection offers open-plan designs, Smart TVs, private outdoor areas, and two of the properties have ground-floor living, making it a lovely base for couples and families seeking a rural escape to Cornwall. Positioned on the outskirts of Hayle, the town boasts an array of amenities. Shops and supermarkets such as Asda for provisions, restaurants such as TERRACE Hayle, and traditional inns are all within a short distance of the beautiful sandy beach at Hayle Towan's stretching to Gwithian Beach and beyond, with Godrevy lighthouse in the distance. Swim, surf, bodyboard or rock pool, the coastline has much to offer with beach cafes for refreshment and glorious seascape views from the elevated coast path. HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
