  • "Amazing property with great facilities inside the property and to very high standards and pristine conditions."

Very accessible to local Penzance town and big supermarkets. Will definitely stay again here and will recommend to friends.

Thanks,Mr Sudarsan, good to know as when we have not been able to visit for some time we are depending on good people as your self to let us know. Regards Robin Property Owner

  • "All great as described, very clean and well equipped except the private spa tub advertised was missing."

Also, the swimming pool hadn't 24-hour access like advertised but 10-6pm timetable and needed to book every day for each session . We were disappointed about these 2 aspects, made a complaint and got a compensation. Overall good experience.

It had everything we needed for a lovely week's stay. The little shop downstairs was perfect for emergencies and picking up some bread and milk when we arrived on Sunday evening.

  • "This is a lovely spacious property in a beautiful old historic manor house with a stunning inner garden."

The property is quiet, with fairly modern fixtures & comfortable sofas. The main bedroom had an excellent mattress however sadly the two single mattresses in the second bedroom had seen better days. The very friendly house keeper Lizzie, did come out promptly as we had to contact Sykes when my lanky teenage son struggled to get a decent sleep. She provided a brand new mattress topper the very next day, which definitely helped. Over all we had a fantastic stay. Easy access to beautiful coastal walks and beaches on both south and north coastlines. I highly recommend the place but if you have children would check that new mattresses have been purchased.

The apartment catered for all our needs and the pub on site was great for drinks and eating out. All in all we had a great stay and fantastic weather. Thanks to all.

Flowers biscuits and a bottle of drink on arrival, such a nice touch. The only area that could have done with a good clean up, was the stairway leading up to the accommodation not sure who’s responsible for that part of the building. Nice garden to look out onto.

It had everything we needed to use for cooking. Very clean, two issues which hopefully is sorted for next customers which the house keeper came to assess. Good position on the coast to get out and about. Kenigie swimming pool hasn't had hot tub for over a year, all staff very friendly. Absolutely blissful walking holiday, cornwall is so beautiful.

The apartment was perfect in every way. One of the best places we’ve stayed on our holidays- a true home from home and we felt very welcome there. The site was quite, with good level of daily activities and very friendly staff. We only missed the pedestrian access to Penzance itself, which would have made 100% for us.

  • "The property has excellent in house amenities and is very well appointed."

Its situation being a five minute drive to Penzance main car parks and even less to Tesco makes it a very well positioned. No fault of the owner was the very poor provision of facilities at the Kenegie holiday park. No meals on offer, swimming pool never open. We didn't need them but others with children may have been disappointed. A very small point was the relatively small storage space for clothes in the number two bedroom. We are an adult couple and needed more space. Two children would have been fine. In truth a fabulous week

Many thanks Vince. Yes we agree about the second bedroom but you will have been aware there is little room to put a wardrobe . We will take another look. Forwarded to management - normally we hear good reports regarding the on site facilities. Regards Robin Property Owner

Thanks James for giving us feedback. Glad that the apartment that we control was OK. Perhaps future guests reading this will use the toaster in the dining room? Of course I am assuming the fan was activated above the hotplate...The Sykes property description has 'resting on the first floor of the 400-year-old Kenegie Manor' so one would expect to use stairs to access it. Perhaps neighbours, or the writer, could have ben informed of the problem. Regards Robin Property Owner

The only downside (not owners fault) was the facilities the swimming pool was closed Monday and Wednesday , and eatery was closed. But due to location we traveled for some supplies and eating out. All in all we had a very comfortable stay lovely large apartment for two adults (our friends couldn’t come due to illness). • "This is by far one of my favourite places that I've stayed in."

It was clean, tidy and modern, very well presented. The apartment is part of a manor that has been divided into holiday apartments. On site there is a pub, mini convenience shop and indoor heated swimming pool with sauna and hot tub (heads up you have to book before going in). The staff on site are super lovely and friendly. You're a 7min drive from a morrisons, sainsburys and the town. If I had to complain it would be that it's bright in the bedrooms in the morning and that the Check out is 9 in the morning, considering check in was 5 in the afternoon.

Thanks Beth; yes we are considering a black blind in the bedroom - there are no curtains as that would entail additional washing. As you mentioned the clean and tidy apartment it is due to our wonderful ladies that keep it that way, they of course spend some time (and occasionally extra time after some guests) in each property they maintain. The dogs felt at home, everything was in such a great working order, the apartment wasn’t too far from all the beaches and the people on site were lovely. Only downsides were having to book a slot for the swimming pool so I never got to go and missing out on the dinner in the on site pub as they kept closing early, but that isn’t down to the property itself. The people that owned it were very good at replying to emails and the cleaners were so lovely. Would definitely go again!

  • "We are appalled by the lack of response and the extreme difficulty of contacting Sykes during our stay."

We had three serious and one very serious problem with the apartment during our stay. 1) No hot water when we arrived. 2) No instruction or idea on how to deactivate the burglar alarm, inadvertently triggered whilst searching for means of turning on the hot water. 3) A very serious leak in the roof during a rain storm, where the water was pouring through the electric light fitting in the entrance hallway and above the second bedroom doorway. 4) Despite turning off the storage heaters, they remained on and very hot during our entire stay. This meant that we had to keep the windows open the entire week as a means of keeping the temperature to a tolerable level. This also led to us leaving the apartment a day early due to the discomfort. We travelled home on the 8th October, not the 9th. I attempted to contact Sykes for all of these issues above and on many occasions. The phone lines were either completely dead, or when it would connect, rang for at least 15-20 minutes each time before cutting off. On the first of two occasions when someone finally did answer, a message was taken and the owner himself phoned me back (from Bermuda!) 5 hours after the first incident. With the code he gave me, I was able to deactivate the burglar alarm. He told me he would send someone to sort the hot water for us, but no-one arrived. We therefore had to switch on the "full rate" switch next to the hot water tank, which seemed to eventually provide us with hot water. This would not turn off again! I could only finally get hold of someone for the leak incident on the afternoon of the following day. I called first thing in the morning, but was cut off. Following the online instructions, I had raised a chat incident immediately the leak occurred, but apart from an automated confirmation of receipt, I never received any response from this. The person I spoke to in the afternoon said he would speak to his manager, but again, I never heard anything else until the cleaner called me on the Wednesday. I was surprised at this, as I assumed the issues we were having were house maintenance, not cleaning problems. It remained though that none of the issues were resolved during our stay. There are electrical problems with the property, and there is a serious leak in the roof. This is the first time that we have experienced not only so many problems, but such difficulty in contacting anyone for help. The apartment itself is really lovely, but our holiday was spoilt by the time we spent trying to get things sorted that should not have been our problem, and the fact that we felt frustrated and ignored. I'm afraid we are very unimpressed, especially considering the severity and potential life-threatening nature of the leak. Had we been out and attempted to either activate the light switch for the light fitting through which the water was pouring through, or slipped in the dark in the water covering the floor, things would have been very serious indeed!

So sorry that you not only experienced all these problems but that help and resolutions were not forthcoming in a timely manner. Responding to all the complaints will not rectify anything but I will just mention the cleaners are also retained property managers of the highest caliber and we aim to have the leak rectified as soon as possible. Thank you again for your comments. Property Owner

  • "We were unable to take up the holiday accommodation due to the recent petrol crisis and the distance we had to travel and might potentially run out of petrol."

We were also concerned that we would be stranded in Cornwall with no means to return home if the national petrol crisis was not resolved. I notified Sykes contact centres and spoke to two contact centre agents that provided no resolution but we were told that there was nothing they could do and that it was my problem. Sykes Cottages didn't even offer a compromise. We feel cheated, and will never use your organisation again.

Only gripe I have would be that the heating in the master bedroom did not work, not ideal in the winter. One other issue is the kitchen mixer tap --- if turned on,and you move the adjustable nozzle, it will spray water from a defective joint all over you.

Paid for wifi but did not work on any device so had to get a refund. Then we found a manual that had the sky wifi password so all good. Manual should be left out on the coffee table or in the kitchen. It was upside down on a bookshelf at the back of the room & we only came upon it by chance. Hot water only lasted 2 showers - not good when apartment sleeps 4. Manual referred to a remote to switch on constant but we couldn't find it so we had to pull a bed out to access boiler in a cupboard in 2nd bedroom to switch it on. Overall the apartment was exceptionally clean with great facilities & a comfortable home from home. Just a couple of little niggles but ok once we'd sorted them out.
