    "Firstly the positives."

We would like to say what a lovely week we spent in the cottage. The cottage is an ideal location with it being a 3 min walk into the beautiful city of Truro. The cottage itself is very spacious with lots of quirky and quaint features. It’s is very tastefully decorated and furnished with the added bonus of a detached summerhouse and very private garden perfect for relaxing with a drink at the end of a day exploring the many beaches nearby. There are plenty of pots/pans/ plates etc very well equipped with everything you need. The cottage is located in a very peaceful area. We used the train a couple of days to save us driving and finding car parking. Finally, the negatives (which are only a couple of things) we tried to make contact on the number we were given before we arrived on several occasions, with a couple of queries, but unfortunately no one got back to us which we felt wasn’t good customer relations. Fortunately for us, we didn’t have any more need to make contact but it’s nice to be responded to especially as we were your guests. Secondly the bedrooms were very dusty on anrrival and the carpet felt like it needed hoovering. Infact I had to wipe all the surfaces before I could unpack because it was more than just a thin layer of dust. This lack of attention to detail, for me, really let the property down. It is such a shame as the house is so lovely otherwise. I have to say though, the bedding, towels and bathrooms were clean, it was just the bedrooms and also lots of cobwebs around the house in general. I appreciate that the property has fairly high ceilings and feel that it’s acceptable to miss one or 2 cobwebs when cleaning. However there were quite a few cobwebs around in easy to reach spaces which I sense were overlooked. My husband hoovered the bedroom and he noticed the hoover hadn’t been emptied and wasn’t picking up the bits on the carpets. We felt that as we were on holiday, and after a long journey down, we didn’t really want to start emptying the hoover from previous guests mess. Aside from the bedrooms and the cobwebs, overall we had a lovely stay.

I am so sorry you had this experience. I deal with a very reputable cleaning company who is highly recommended by Sykes. Other guests have remarked on how clean the house is so it was upsetting when your review came in. A deep clean was done the last few days of May 2025 and a professional carpet cleaning was done a few weeks ago. I have no idea what might have gone wrong. We will certainly be looking into how this happened. Thank you for your feedback An update: I spoke with the manager of the cleaning company and they were also shocked that this had happened. Usually a team is sent into the property to clean and then a video of the cleaned cottage is sent to the head office, I also have access to the video. The cleaners only use the company vacuum cleaners so unfortunately cleaning out the vacuum for guests was missed . Again I apologise that this affected your enjoyment. Property Owner

"We enjoyed our stay at your lovely cottage."

The house was clean and well equipped. The location is excellent for the town and public transport so we didn't need to use the car that much.

"We have been doing cottage holidays for 50 years and this is one of the best we have ever used."

Beautifully presented, comfortable and with clear thought to the comprehensive contents. The owner was friendly and understanding about a minor breakage. The location in our favourite city is stunning. We intend to return every year, perhaps twice, for as long as we are able.
