  • "Pheasant Barn is beautiful holiday cottage perfect for a couple and our dog."

The woodburner added to the cosy atmosphere and we loved the breakfast bar . Everything had been thought of and the delicious cake and local apple juice was very welcome on arrival. The cottage is in the perfect position to visit Looe, Polperro, Bodmin moor, Fowey via the car ferry and Lantic Bay. We also visited Plymouth, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the beautiful fishing village of Mevagissey which were also withiin easy reach.

  • "This really is a delightful holiday cottage!"

Tastefully presented, spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen, a good shower room, and a comfortable bed – in brief, all we could need for our short stay over New Year. The Christmas tree and welcome goodies were also much appreciated! Such an attractive, peaceful setting, with lovely walks to Herodsfoot and St Keyne, and perfectly located for Liskeard and Looe. Storm Henk didn't prevent us from making the most of our time here, but we would love to return in the warmer months! Thank you so much.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Very much appreciated! We are delighted you enjoyed it. Property Owner

The Barn is inviting, in a peaceful and quiet location and has an extensive selection of cooking utensils. A great place for couples. The owners do a fine job looking after their guests.

The cottage was clean and well equipped the front garden was nice to sit in when the sun was on it in a morning but later in the day the sun went to the back of the cottage and it would have been nice to sit at the back but I couldn't get the French doors open they were made of wood and the wood was swollen I didn't want to force the door and brake the glass with there being a 150 pounds House keeping bond on the property so I left them closed maybe they need to invest in upvc windows and doors

Hello there. Thank you so much for your feedback. What a shame you didn’t give me a bell as I live on site and would have happily popped over for a chat, to check the doors and adjust them slightly if needed. The doors are opened regularly by visitors especially if the two holidays lets are booked together. The welcome book advises how to open the doors and to contact me if there are any issues. For anyone reading this review, please check out my previous reviews of Pheasants Barn. It is delightful and we normally receive very favourable feedback. My number is on the front page of the welcome pack and you are encouraged to call me if you have any issues. I am saddened that this didn’t happen in this instance as I could have assisted the guest in his visit. However again thank you for your feedback, we are passionate about this traditional barn and have tried to avoid upvc in such a historic building to date. However watch this space. Many thanks Annabel Property Owner

Beaches to visit; Seaton, Downderry, Whitsand Bay, Treangle, Harlyn Bay. Fowey and Padstow for lunch and take the boat over to Rock, fabulous beaches, all worth a visit and Polperro too. The welcome pack was delicious and such a treat.

  • "The barn itself is very nice however, the property description doesn’t accurately reflect the interior of the property."

There is a step down to the bedroom, two steps into the living room and two down into the kitchen area. A couple of the steps are higher than an average staircase, one being almost 50% higher than the standard height. In our opinion, this isn’t suitable for people with mobility issues. Bedroom is nicely decorated and the bed is comfortable. Bathroom is what you would expect, shower worked well. Living area is basic with a small two seater sofa. The french doors are badly maintained, if you do manage to open them, they are very hard to close. We had an issue with a blind which the owner very quickly rectified. Kitchen is adequately equipped however, should you wish to take supplies, there are no free cupboards to store items. The garden is ok, smaller than the photos make it look. Unfortunately, one of us had a nasty fall entering the bedroom (falling down the higher than normal step) resulting in a bad sprain/tendon damage. Due to the layout of the property, having a dog which needed walking we felt we had to leave early. The owner, although appeared to be open to our feedback and understanding to the fall (offering a refund), did an about turn the moment we left insinuating we had broken the blind, insinuating we had not really fallen and insinuating we had not visited the local minor injuries unit. She also backtracked and didn’t follow through with the refund. Very disappointing experience, one which we wouldn’t repeat.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Pheasant Barn which was well equipped and nicely decorated, clean and welcoming."

We were left some milk, a lovely fruit cake & apple juice. The location is quite remote but well situated to explore the area. We visited Looe, Fowey, Carlyon Bay, Eden Project, Jamaica Inn & Golitha Falls, all of which were within a short drive. We would recommend a stay here.

  • "The cottage was perfect for us, perfectly clean , lots of extra touches to make it very homely, and set in a peaceful country location."

The weather wasn’t always kind to us but we enjoyed visits to Looe and Polperro on the local bus which ran hourly, with also easy access to Liskeard. There was a great welcome pack waiting for us on arrival which we really enjoyed, it was very thoughtful as we had had a long journey. Would definitely stay again, highly recommended.

Hello Sheila Thank you for your most welcome feedback. That’s very kind. I am so glad you and your husband had a safe journey back to home. Take care and all the best. Annabel Property Owner

  • "The perfect place to stay for a couple and, with a secure enclosed garden, allowed our dog to feel most welcome too."

Such a lovely quiet location but easily accessible to main roads to explore the area. Can highly recommend The Plough Inn at Duloe just down the road where we enjoyed both an evening meal and Sunday lunch. Other places to visit are the excellent fishing port of Looe and the quaint town of Polperro, whilst the highlight for our dog was a visit to Goliatha Falls. As far as Pheasant Barn goes you are sure to be met with a warm welcome of a Cornish cream tea, fruit juice and a bottle of wine. The attention to detail in the property is second to none with the barn having everything you need to fulfil home comforts. Little touches of hair and body products in the shower room add to the care that the property is given and the decor throughout fits perfectly to the name of the property, pheasants a plenty! Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us but Annabel could not have done enough to ensure that we were warm and cosy by adjusting the boiler settings for us. Her young children have to be highly commended too for their eagerness to provide us with enough kindling and wood for the log burner. Overall an exceptionally well run property. Thank you Annabel and your family.

Thank you so much for your visit. It was lovely to meet you both and very glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back in the future! Property Owner

  • "Lovely barn conversation, beautifully furnished & exceptionally clean."

The Log Burner make the property very cosy on cooler evenings. Set in quiet Cornish Countryside, but still only a short drive from Liskeard, Looe, Polperro & just over 30 minutes from the Historic Maritime City of Plymouth makes Pheasant Barn an ideal base for exploring South East Cornwall. The host is extremely helpful & the Welcome Pack that included Scones, Jam & Clotted Cream were a delicious. Already planning a return visit in the Autumn.

Thank you Jo, we look forward to welcoming you back to Pheasant Barn. Take CareX Property Owner
