Can't wait to come back again. Kathleen, John & Bari (woof woof)

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your recent stay with us at Pixie Cottage. It's lovely to hear you and your furry little friend had a wonderful time at the cottage and we would love to make it a second stay. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. • "This was our second visit."

Beautifully presented cottage with everything you need. Lovely outlook over the harbour and Looe. Easy to walk to shops, cafes and pubs in town. Great walks around the area for us and our dog. Although no space at the cottage for a car, there is a reserved parking spot 5 minutes away. No problems at all with the visit but reassuring to know the delightful housekeeper and husband were next door. Perfect for us and our dog!

  • "A lovely cottage in an absolutely fantastic location overlooking the harbour and the sea."

Only 5 minutes away from shops, cafes and the esplanade which is absolutely lovely. Free parking (in nearby car park) is a real bonus too. The only drawback is the very steep walk from the town and the very steep staircases in the cottage, but a small price to pay for a beautiful place in this stunning and convenient location. Thank you!

Thank you for providing us with such lovely feedback on your stay. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time away and we hope that we can welcome you again one day in the future. Property Owner

Love the location of the cottage. It is well equipped and clean and comfortable. Ideally located for everything and the free car park space allocated to pixie cottage is just a short walk away. Hope to come back.

  • "The Cottage was one of the best we have stayed in in Looe."

Just lovely! The downside was the completely unacceptable cancellation terms and conditions after booking with one site Dogfriendly, the payment terms were disregarded by Sykes. After paying the deposit you are contracted by Sykes to pay the balance whether you can take your holiday or not. Very unfair as we paid six months before our holiday. No one intends to cancel, but these terms are unacceptable and this was a concern right up to our holiday date. Insurance is not the answer, fair cancellation terms are.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the cancellation policy was not clearly explained to you. We are investigating this with the partner site. We are glad you were pleased with the property and hope you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes HideAways Property Owner

  • "Pixie Cottage is a very old fisherman’s cottage and was built when people were shorter than now."

I’m 5’ 9” or 1m 75cm for those that think that way. I managed to go a whole week without banging my head on the staircase, only doing so on the last morning. For anyone taller I would just say heed the warnings or you’ll collect a good few bruises. Also, you will have to crouch when using the shower as there was barely an inch or so of clearance between my head and the ceiling. Other than that the cottage is great, superbly equipped and only a short walk from the centre of Looe. However, that walk is relatively steep, especially if you opt to turn left and take the short route. You have to bear in mind that we hail from Cambridgeshire where it is relatively flat. I would say that if you have mobility issues I could not recommend staying here but if you are generally fit I would have no reservations whatsoever in saying it’s a great place to stay.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, the Cottage is in a lovely location to explore the little village. We appreciated the feedback with regards to head height, one of the many features of very old property's. We would love to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

It felt like home and not a holiday cottage (except it's size of course :) ). It's a great location, so close to everything, and providing parking in the nearby car park made a difference to us choosing the house to stay in. Next door were super helpful too, nice to have them on hand for local tips and advice. Would recommend to friends in the future.

The use of the limited space is excellent and make the cottage feel much bigger. However, the really fantastic feature is the view - one of the best we have ever experienced. Really great meal at The Sardine Factory and a wonderful fishmonger too. Welcome cream tea also excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Pixie Cottage (and the wonderful views). Thank you also for your recommendations - we hope to welcome you again. Best wishes Hideaway Cottages Property Owner

The property

For rest and relaxation or a coastal walkers paradise Pixie Cottage is an idyllic bolthole for a fantastic getaway, all year round (you can even bring your 4 legged friend!) Tucked away in the quieter part of the town (West Looe) the cottage is all about the view - and what a view!

From the first floor lounge and second floor bedroom you get a panoramic spectacle of the harbour, the town and the open sea beyond. Upon entering the cottage you immediately appreciate that despite its age and charm it does not lack in modern, creature comforts; the well laid out open plan kitchen / dining area provides the perfect spot to enjoy a lazy breakfast, or a romantic meal.

If the weather is inclement, then the log effect flame fire set into the Cornish slate surround will add to the atmosphere created by the cottage. Stairs rise to the first floor, superbly appointed lounge, where you can relax in front of the tv after a hard day sightseeing; though why would you bother with the tv with views like this to enjoy. On the second floor you will find the king size double bedroom, where the view just gets better and more spectacular.

On this floor you will also find the modern bath room (bath with electric shower over).

The town, the harbour and the superb sandy beaches make Looe a very popular coastal retreat, and Pixie Cottage is superbly located to take advantage of all that the town and surrounding area have to offer; take a short walk into town to enjoy the myriad of pubs and restaurants lining the waterside, offering local produce and traditional ales.

Superb, sandy beaches are just a walk away, and many are dog-friendly year-round (but please check locally). This being Cornwall you obviously have endless stunning coastal walks in both directions or alternatively hire a cycle and discover the scenic woodlands.

Further afield are the famous Eden Project andl Heligan Gardens, each offering a superb day out. For rest and relaxation Pixie Cottage is an idyllic bolthole for a getaway, all year round.

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
