  • "We loved Mews cottage and will definitely go back."

It located in a pathway at the side of the King Arthur pub. Right in the centre of the village. It has a small paved secure garden, perfect for bringing a dog on holiday. The cottage is well maintained and contains everything you need for a self catering holiday. Floors are a mixture of wood and stone, easy to clean if you come back a bit wet. It was warm and spacious. Beds were comfortable and the shower was lovely. WiFi and a smart Tv perfect for lazy mornings or lazy evenings. The owner also left us a lovely fruitcake on our arrival as well as a parking pass for the pub car park. Couldn’t ask for more. Will definitely stay again

  • "Lovely cottage with a great location."

Communication from owner really good and it was easy to find. The cottage was very cosy and warm, spacious and clean. Very minor pint a pint of milk would have been appreciated instead of the milk sachets. Would be happy to stay again as a great location for exploring Port Isaac, Boscastle and surrounding areas

Hi Deb Thank you for your lovely review and taking the time to write it. So happy you liked Mews and Tintagel . We think it’s a great area too. And we will definitely add a pint of milk in the future for guests arrivals instead of sachets. Good point. You’re welcome back anytime time. Property Owner

  • "We loved the cottage, it was clean, warm and cosy with everything we needed & lots of extras."

Shower pressure could be better but this wasn't an issue. Would like more clear instructions regarding recycling. We weren't happy about putting everything in the black bin, but didn't know the local policy regarding recycling glass, plastics etc. Dawn , the cleaner came round to check everything was OK, which we appreciated very much. We also appreciated the welcome pack of tea, coffee, cake & a bottle of prosecco for New Year's Eve.

Hi Jenny thank you for your lovely review it very much appreciated. Apologies for the shower, sometimes the water pressure isn’t great in Tintagel and thank you for pointing out the recycling. We use a local private bin collection company whose t&c’s are everything in a black bag for collection and then they sort out the bags at their depot into recycling etc. I will note this in the information folder-very helpful comment thank you. Hopefully we can welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage, so homely and cosy."

I spent Christmas in this gorgeous cottage and from the moment I walked in it felt like home from home. Everything you need is there along with special little touches such as the welcome bottle of fizz and Christmas tree. The beds are super comfy and all the rooms are a generous size and nicely decorated. Lovely little garden which is dog safe. The location is excellent, being right in the town but tucked away. Plus a pub next door. There are some amazing walks with fantastic views. So much to see and do, couldn’t fit it all in so will definitely book this cottage again. Christine, the host was a sweetheart, texting to give details of where to park, key collection etc, felt like I’d made a new friend, even wishing me a safe journey home. Also met the lovely Dawn, who cleans, she like everyone there is so friendly and the whole village is dog friendly. Cannot praise this cottage enough.

Hi Michelle thank you so much for your super review it was perfect and summed up how we feel about the cottage and Tintagel too. Looking forward to talking to you again when you next visit. Property Owner

  • "Booked a last minute getaway for partners Birthday."

Cottage is beautiful very well equipped, it really is a home from home it has everything you need from a short break to longer. Lovely little welcome pack on arrival of Cake, Biscuits and Milk very much appreciated, they really have thought of everything. Beds super comfortable as was the sofas in the lounge to the large smart TV, good supply of Towels too, absolutely spotlessly clean , lovely little courtyard be super in summer and ideal for Dogs as it’s all enclosed and secure. Location well you really are in the heart of it all but back enough to not hear anything so peaceful. We parked in King Arthur’s Arms car park using the permit and we didn’t realise the cottage was littrally less than a 30 second walk away. So right on your doorstep you have the little high street with its quaint shops and The national Trust post office opposite also a selection of Pubs a spar shop also Take away Fish and Chips (recommended) as was the food and welcome we had from the Kings Arthur’s Arms. Also a great place to get your hiking boots on and explore the rugged coastline and Tintagel Castle and the beautiful rugged coves close by. I must say I stepped inside this beautiful cottage and felt instantly at ease and relaxed which is what we needed. Thankyou to the hosts for this splendid little Gem of a cottage in a beautiful magical mystical place.

The property

Mews Cottage is an original stone and slate dwelling built around 1890 and was a former stable for a local inn.

Despite the rustic feel it is spacious, bright and airy.

It is a perfect base to explore Cornwall and is within easy access to picturesque landscapes, villages and historical places of interest.

Lots within walking distance. Mews Cottage is a well presented 2 bedroomed semi detached holiday home set in the heart of Tintagel village on the northern Cornish coast.

You can enjoy the peaceful serenity that the cottage offers as it is in a small secluded area off the sometimes hustle and bustle of Tintagel village down a private pedestrian slate crazy paved path.

Mews Cottage has a free car parking permit for a nearby car park, 20 seconds walk away.

During the winter parking on the road is also available, spaces permitting. After an action packed day exploring the coast, enter into the kitchen/dining area where you will find everything you need to enjoy a self catering break.

Or head into the spacious lounge and unwind on the large comfortable settees, watch a film on the Smart TV whilst enjoying the glow from the electric wood burner.

This warm and light room has double doors which lead into the enclosed courtyard area.

Perfect for enjoying the warm Cornish evenings or fresh morning coffee.

An absolute sun trap!

Upstairs are 2 cosy bedrooms wonderfully presented with high apexed ceilings and wood beams.

The master offers a king size bed with 2 single beds next door.

The shower room has a heated towel rail and electric mirror.

Completing the picture upstairs is the panoramic view of the countryside and distant sea view. Mews Cottage is just a few steps from the main street with a variety of shops, pubs and eateries.

The Old Post Office is across the road, built in the 14th century.

King Arthur’s hall is a short walk going left out of the cottage.

St Nectans Glen, a stones throw away with a great woodland walk and spectacular waterfall.

Tintagel castle, the mythical home of King Arthur is a short walk away.

Rocky Valley and many other places too. There is also a good bus service in Tintagel so you have the option of parking up the car and leaving it during your stay. The coast is a 10 minute walk away.

Within easy reach are the coastal villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac, the latter made famous by the TV series Doc Martin.

Trebarwith Strand, a beautiful stretch of beach with natural caves and lots of rock pools, tidal so OK for dogs all year round, is a short drive away or accessible via the coast path past St Materiana’s church. Further down along the coast are the golden sandy beaches of Rock and Polzeath.

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination, surrounded by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and within a short distance is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a short but scenic drive.
