  • "Second time at Chimings which is well positioned and well equipped."

Comfortable beds and furniture. Great for walking to Rock, Daymer and Polzeath from the bungalow. We had a great time and would certainly return.

  • "We had a brilliant stay in this beautiful and comfortable Cornish cottage over the May half term week."

We found the property clean and very well equipped with everything we could need including a utility/ drying room which was really practical and helpful for wetsuits/ beach gear/ boots etc. Nice roomy kitchen also had everything we wanted. We particularly found it a very practical and easy place to bring children - being all on one level inside meant it was very safe for our toddler to explore. Comfy (and enormous!) beds. We brought our own linen which was no probs. We loved the big sunny garden and spent loads of time out there. In terms of location it was great - situated at the quieter end of Rock village so nice and peaceful, but an easy walk or cycle down to Porthilly or Rock beaches. Loved the excellent deli, coffee shops and restaurants. Thank you - we had a lovely time and are coming back in later in the year!

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Chimings over the early May Bank Holiday."

The house was warm, spotless, beautifully presented and extremely well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We particularly enjoyed spending time in the beautiful garden, making the most of the BBQ and the lovely weather. We also loved the fantastic coastal walks and time spent on the beach nearby, which made for a perfect Cornish getaway. The property felt welcoming and well cared for throughout, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into ensuring guests had everything they needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Chimings to friends and family. We would happily return in the future & highly recommend the property to any group of friends, or a family who are looking for a Cornish escape.

  • "It was wet and cold when we arrived."

No one was in it the week before so the property was quite cold. Property has an Air Source Heat Pump. It was set at 13c and took a long time to warm up. Found it a totally useless system. No instructions on how to use its controller. Luckily they had two electric heaters. The fact they needed to provide these speaks for itself. The hot water was not very hot if you wanted a nice bath. They had two instruction books for visitors which contained three different Wi Fifi codes. Its was a nice property if you stay in the warmer weather but our holiday was spoilt having to mess about trying to get warm for the first few days. Not very customer focussed.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and raise these issues with us. We have requested that our maintenance team investigate the issue with the heater for future bookings. We do hope to welcome you back in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays, responding on behalf of the owner. From the Owner: Thank you for the feedback. We are so sorry the heating was a problem for you and that it impacted your holiday. Previously we’ve used the now defunct Google nest system and I’m glad to report that the heating is now working perfectly using the thermostat in the sitting room. The outside temperature today is 8-10 degrees and it's currently very warm inside at 20 degrees C (entirely from the heating, without the electric radiators). We have updated the heating instructions too. Additionally, the heating is turned up in the week ahead of a booking if the house has been unoccupied, and the bathrooms and utility room have separate, very responsive underfloor heating so can be kept warm at times when the main heating isn’t needed. I hope you found the immersion switch in the kitchen that is clearly labelled and will boost hot water according to your requirement. We have also updated the wifi information in the folder and on the router and apologise for the inconvenience caused by having out of date information there. Property Owner

  • "We would have given this a perfect score as this spacious clean bungalow was perfect for us and our guests."

The beds are comfortable and the owner is so generous in leaving such beautiful dishes and other items in the kitchen. The back windows all look out onto a beautiful spacious garden. We had a lovely sunny day during our stay where we sat around the garden table. We found a perfect morning walk with our dogs to an open field which led directly to the beach. We had two lovely meals at the Mariner pub and used the ferry to Padstow twice. There were just two things two things to mention: The internet connection kept going off, even after being checked out. We just felt it wasn’t a strong connection, but because we had a poor mobile connection, my husband struggled to get his diabetes readings. The house heating seemed to stay at 13 which was a bit cold for February but there were two mobile heaters, under floor heating in two bathrooms, and a fantastic wood burner, so we managed. Some instructions on how to override/better manage this would have been useful. We would stay again despite the two things above.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are delighted to hear that the property is everything you expected and worked well for you and your guests. We are sorry to hear that there was an issue with the WI-FI and the heating during your stay, we have since looked into this to ensure this is not an issue going forward. We hope to able to welcome you back again for another stay! - John Bray Cornish Holidays, responding on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The property needs a thorough clean, dirty windows and mirrors."

We had to wash several pots & pans and trays before use. In addition, the TV is far too small for the size of the room. Whilst this is not the end of the world it is a major consideration

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We have upgraded the TV to 55 inch screen. We’re sorry to hear you experienced some cleanliness issues during your stay and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Your comments have been passed on to our housekeeping team for their attention, and all feedback is shared with the owner. We appreciate your suggestions for improvement and hope to welcome you back in the future - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property which has been thoughtfully furnished and equipped."

We had everything we needed. We rent holiday properties frequently and this is one of the best ever….. everything worked and having two walk in showers was superb for a family, super king beds and all very comfy. Also it’s rare you get decent seating in the lounge…. Every chair or sofa was of excellent quality and for me with two knee replacements, supportive plus able to raise. The literature sent in advance suggesting flat sheets as bedding was spot on and we took our own which fitted well. We love Rock and been going for years. This bungalow is in a good location to walk down to the beaches or pop in the car for a jaunt. Pityme inn served a great Sunday lunch. The only thing I’d change is a better fitted loo seat in main bathroom! It’s too far over to one side but am sure is an easy fix. Booked already for next year. Thanks for a wonderful break

  • "You make it clear that the superking sized bed requires specific bedding but we found that the twin beds in the small bedroom were also non-standard size and that our standard bottom sheets were too short ."

..I think that this should be clear in your details. The property was super clean and comfortable and we loved all the design features.

Thank you very much for your feedback and we are so pleased you liked Chimings. I'm sorry your sheets didn't fit. We hadn't quite realised that all UK zip and link beds are 200cm (6ft 6ins) long, where standard single beds are 190cm (6ft 3ins). Newer mattresses now also tend to be deeper than in the past (20 and 23cm for the 2 pairs of zip and link and 25.5cm for the master bedroom) so bed linen needs to be a bit more generous. We will arrange for the property details to be updated with this information. Many thanks again for highlighting it. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time at Chimings."

The cottage was nice and spacious with everything you need to make a comfortable stay. Loved walking down to Porthilly beach in the evenings along the public footpath and didn’t want to go home. The only thing that I wasn’t happy with was having to make up beds after a 5 hour drive. Thought when hiring bedding they would be made up for our arrival. When contacting Eco Laundry they said it would be delivered to John Bray on the Saturday before so the house keepers could take them on the Thursday.
