The property

In a sheltered valley on the outskirts of Port Isaac at the end of a long private drive with only two neighbouring properties sits this peaceful Grade II listed former watermill.

Less than 1/2 mile by footpath from the picturesque harbour of Port Isaac Mill Barn is the perfect base for friends and families who want to explore this popular fishing village, which found fame as the backdrop to the ITV television series Doc Martin.

Laid out in an upside-down style, enter on the first floor to spacious open-plan living room with a vaulted and beamed ceiling and Juliet balcony for admiring the view.

There's a sociable dining area for enjoying a hearty meal and the neat kitchen houses everything you'll need to cook for the family.

On the ground floor are two cool comfortable bedrooms; a double with a kingsize bed and a twin.

They share a convenient Jack and Jill style cloakroom, whilst a shower room can be found on the first floor.

Outside, across the old farmyard is an enclosed garden bordered by a pretty stream has a table and chairs where you can enjoy breakfast or dinner in the sunshine.

You'll want to explore Port Isaac, but with some of the narrowest streets in the UK you might want to leave the car behind!

Instead, take a leisurely 10 minute stroll across the adjoining footpath to the village centre, where you will find a choice of shops and eateries.

Explore the maze of narrow streets before stopping of at the picturesque harbour, where fishing and scenic trips can be taken during the summer months.

Keen walkers can use Port Isaac as a base in which to walk the famous South West Coast Path to enjoy the dramatic coastal landscape and to admire the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coastline.

Neighbouring Port Gaverne offers a small sandy beach, as well as opportunities for sea-kayaking and coasteering days out.Slightly further away is Polzeath, the area's best surfing beach and Daymer Bay, dog friendly all year round.

Fascinating Tintagel Castle, Pencarrow House and Garden in Bodmin, as well as the Pentargon Waterfall in Boscastle are all within easy reach.

With so much to do and see you'll have a wonderful time at Mill Barn.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike.
